Most everyone in my high school listened to them, and on top of that, my parents are fans .

Is this the new Velvet Room?
I play Opeth in the car too, that probably works quite well.
King Crimson too.

yeah, they got popular when i was a sophomore in college, but i could
never see what the big deal was, even though their drummer is
talented. some of my friends were addicted to them, and looked at
me like I was crazy that I didn't even LIKE them. Instead, I was
into "messed-up" music (read: Yes, KC, et. al.)

My rant du jour:
People who plug up my email with various warnings and online petitions that are simply urban legends. As you can see, it's my email, so I'm actually on a first name basis with these people. All I can do is send them the URL to snopes.com hoping they'll take the hint and check there first before sending their latest warning. One day I hope to get through to people.
By the way, not only do I not like Dave Mathews Band music, I hate the university crowd that think they're cooler than everyone else because they've been fans before he became cool. Uh, that's nice but the music still strikes me as bland.

It's bad enough for the poor souls trapped inside, but must the rest of the world be forced to listen to that rubbish? Honestly, how can you even enjoy the music if it's turned up so loud that people can hear it a mile away. Every time I hear somebody blasting some sh*tty rap obnoxiously loud, I feel like I must listen to some real music in order to redeem myself.
And I also hate when people wear popped collars. They look so incredibly stupid!

I can top that man.
Since I'm going home to Birmingham soon, I've remembered what its like to go through Spark Hill on the buss, an absolute bloody nightmare, why do people think they have to stop there cars side-by-side to have a chat blocking up the busiest road in Brum . It gets worse, mp3 playing phones are all the rage at the mo so people will come onto the bus blasting out hip-hop sh*te for all to hear, and those that use headphones still sound like there useing speakers

my RANT of the day........
I want to "nip" to Paris next week......go Wednesday, come back Thursday........ quite simple, there is a freaking train track.........
CHEAPEST EUROSTAR TICKET £224.50 (plus a £5.50 surcharge for late booking)
FREAKING RIDICULOUS AMMOUNT OF MONEY!
I checked these dates prices about 3 weeks ago, and it would have been possible had I booked it then to do it for £59.00.......... so how the heck can they justify charging £165.50 EXTRA just because I am a LATE booker?
How the heck do they NOT get riots on those trains? If I had paid £224 and was sat next to some smug git who had paid £59 for 3 hours ............well, no wonder no one talks to each other on trains these days!!!
So I looked up some flights.............unbelievable......it's crazy!
The woman on the Eurostar "help" line (don't get me started on "help" lines..........they rarely "help" at all ) well, she said because I was booking late I become a business class passenger.
Now I have never understood this. I run a business with my partner, and you know, we are not cheap or anything, but we watch the expenses!.... why is "business class" a more expensive option than "standard" class? Why is it accepted that businesses will pay MORE for their people to travel..........is it the "funny hand-shake" do they have their trouser legs rolled up? Why would my business pay more than Joe Bloggs to travel??? Would the Eurostar bosses pay more for my product??? No they flippin wouldn't.........
I just want to get to Paris, that's all...........
But unless I plan a trip months in advance I am not going to make it.................I certainly wont be making the trip next week...............
Phew.......................time to fill my coffee cup!

Hey p-c, at least Amtrak in the northeast
corridor here doesn't pull stuff like that...they're freaking expensive
ALL THE TIME! Over $50 for a train from Philadelphia to New
York? It's only 90 miles!!
Phew.......................time to fill my coffee cup!
Amen to that, sister.

I have a Pat Metheny album too, I must play in the car!
Pat Metheny and Ornette Coleman - Song X: Twentieth Anniversary
Great CD!
Oh, a quick rant, related to the ones above:
Chavvy girls with their funky phones, that happen to have an MP3 player incorporated into them. They don't bother with headphones, they just blast out the crappy tune through tinny speakers and then start singing along, whilst at the bus stop and then on the bus. It's irritating!
I don't start playing air guitar whilst listening to my prog (although sometimes I really want to, especially when I was on the 'plane to Barcelona)!
So don't sing! Please!

Indeed, almost more of a Coleman album, and very, very different from the rest of Metheny's career, great album still.

It's the only Metheny album I have, so what's the rest of his output like?
Oh and would you class it as jazz/fusion?

Oh, I think Air-Guitar is legal.........even mandatory.....
it's the NOISE we don't like........... I play air guitar, air drums, air keys........I have even been known to sit-dance on a plane.......... as long as it is a silent activity then it's ok.......
i like watching air-guitarists with head phones, to try to work out what they are playing! ...........you know it passes the time on a long haul flight!
