I used to buy there more in the past (until 2 years ago) and then I found some better online stores with a bigger prog and metal catalogue and cheaper shippings. But before every purchase I make I do a price comparison between at least 3 stores with Amazon being one of them and they are competitive most of the times (especially the sellers), but so far I haven't made any big order from them as the cd prices are either higher or the shipping is making it not worth it. But it always best to check. |
would you please name them? I'm currently looking for a good shop, which ships internationally and not that darn pricey as Amazon.

These are some: http://synphonic.8m.com/ (one of my two most frequent places of purchase) http://www.lasercd.com/Merchant/lasercd/ (look for bargain cd's) http://www2.recordheaven.net/ http://www.jazzis.com (Isreali vendor, not cheap but the service is good) http://www.mindawn.com/ (for mp3) http://www.progrockrecords.com/ http://www.musicstack.com/ (some rare ones here, also used) http://shopping.theendrecords.com/ (Metal and Avantgarde) http://www.exergy-music.se/1.php3 http://www.progwalhalla.com/ (Dutch site, a bit expensive, it is in Euro's) http://www.rocksymphony.com/english/ http://www.caerllysimusic.co.uk/ There are more, google it

I used to use Amazon about a year ago, and very rarely nowadays I still
use it, although sometimes, you can find good used deals. I mostly get
all of my CDs/records through eBay and local CD and record stores now.

Not just music, but the odd bit of electronics too - I often find that things like cameras can be a good price.
Some of the more obscure CDs I've bought from Amazon recently have been very cheap;
£6.99 for "Definition" by Chrysalis and £4.85 for "An Electric Storm" by White Noise - both progger's essentials!

Not any more, unless it's for a cheap Tull or Marillion cd.

I use Amazon for most of my Music CD, DVD & some book purchases. The selection is pretty good & the prices are much better than what my local Hastings can offer.
Super Saver offers free shipping in the US for orders over $25.00.
Occasionally you have to wait a few weeks for some CD's to get to you due to being out of stock.
I'm generally satisfies with the service they provide.
I recently orderes Tales From Topographic Oceans & Relayer. These two didn't connect with me back in the 70's when they came out. But now, I'm mature enough to appreciate the music.
I'm still waiting for a few Samel Hill CD's to arrive.

I use Amazon sometimes, for easier-to-find stuff. But I've been
using CD Universe more lately, good service and usually better prices
than Amazon, and a better selection too. Also I've started using
a seller like caimanzone.com through Amazon, which also has better
prices and some harder-to-find stuff.

Personally i dont like it. I've had one, max. two, smooth transactions with them. I would only use it in the more dire of circumstances.
And as many others said, prices can be a real b*tch.

I use Amazon, although I'm kind of annoyed with them right now; they've been jerking me around with VdGG CDs. Some of them drop in price and then go back to the list price daily. I wish that they were more popular so Amazon wouldn't charge list price for them :(

I don't like to buy music online unless I absolutely can't find the
album elsewhere. For me, half the fun is tracking down rare stuff and
finally getting the thrill of seeing it in a record store.
