There's that, but I've found that even more fans (at least those who are American) got into them through the Genesis connection (same record label, producer, album cover artist, management, package tours, VdGG mentions in Genesis books - basically, they were sister acts). VdGG's legion of European fans, of course, just got into them of their own accord; VdGG were pretty popular in Europe and got tons of press in Britain and on the continent).
