Oh, I don't find Vernon Kaye all that annoying, except when he does that quiz show thing.
Todays rant is:
Newsround.
This Childrens News program is supposed to be good for children? How so? I hear them using cool words and calling everyone kids and suchlike, it annoys me! I much preferred it with John Craven.
By the way, I do not make a habit of watching Newsround, it just happens to be on before Neighbours (the afternoon addition).
Oh and I heard someone say quid on Radio 4 yesterday... I always thought Radio 4 were supposed to be all proper.

Back on to ranting..
Now, I watch TV news several times a day, but the BBC - who I have not trusted for some time - are on a deliberate path to bland oblivion. They have taken a leaf from ITV's book and start their news presentation with the presenters standing up, instead of sitting behind desks. Is this really a big issue? You ask, YES it bloody is. Do they think that standing up against a screen playing bits of film from your opening report, is going to engage peoples attention more than the previous format? Are people going to START watching the news because the presenters are standing up? No. People who are not interested in anything except Big Brother dont watch the news. I've also noticed that since the BBc were hung out to dry after the Hutton enquiry - whilst the government shuffled out of court whistling, kicking their fabricated intelligence documents under the carpet as they left - the BBC have also dumbed down their reportage. They are obviously anxious to stay on the right side of Downing Street. F**king cowards!

I always do. Channel 4 is the best news on TV IMO. The contrast between the two is quite striking. Totally different slant (if you want to call it that)

1300 new houses are going up in my town over the next two years. Our council has a policy of making sure that any patch of green in the town is covered in concrete and populated with criminals by 2008.

And where do you live, Blacksword?
It's the same everywhere in the UK though, I feel. Definitely the case in Swindon.

I'm in Bracknell (Berks), so not far from Swindon really.
The whole South East is like it, as this where most of the work is. I dont see how the trend is sustainable though. In fifty years from now there are going to be even more people demanding houses in their millions. Where are they going to go?

hey Jim...............I forgot the cattle prod..............how stupid of me...............FANKS!!!!!
(btw..........we lift share 6 to a car, so we don't contribute to the school run mayhem more than we have to!)
All you guys seem jolly angry today........
But I agree building on green patches stinks.......... we just moved from near Blacksword's neck of the woods, over here to near Geck0's neck....... one of the problems with this manic building is that folk want their space.......... thus making the price of houses in the country a RIDICULOUSLY ABSURD price!!!!
Where did all the space go???

Well, at least it's not America, where every view is blocked by a newly-built Wal-Mart.

Thats exactly the problem. A few years from now the UK will be nothing more than a huge business park with some crap housing estates and McDonalds drive thrus on the perimeters.

all the towns and villages are linking up because of all the sprawl.............I for instance live in a village called Purton which is halfway between Swindon and Cirencester............. you wouldn't know though it's almost become part of Swindon because of all the sprawl...............
I like a field or ten between villages, it helps me know where one finishes and one begins or I get easily lost/confused!!!!

Ah, well I'm actually in Wroughton, which is kind of linked to Purton, via the Story-Maskelyne family, who lived in Salthrop and Purton (Salthrop is a hamlet just next door to where I live). That's your history lesson for the day Prog-Chick.
Blacksword, my aunt and uncle used to live in Bracknell, don't ask me where though!

Here in Baltimore I live 1 block away from the Inner Harbor and have an excellent view of Fort McHenry from our upstairs windows.
Now they are building high rise condos right on the waterfront and everyone's view will be blocked in my neighborhood by next year.

Riff's Bar isn't all that far from me. I was there for the Big Bill Morganfield gig last month. That's nearer Wootton Bassett, the next town from Wroughton.
I've also been to Cricklade for a gig once, well, a friends bands gig and I know someone who lives there.
Which part of Norfolk? Not that I know Norfolk, it's just I have a friend from there too.
