Dream Theater is my favorite progressive metal band since I'm 10 years old. I like also Opeth, Anathema, Riverside, Psychotic Waltz, Atheist, Cynic, and other prog metal bands.
Music is a form of meditation.

No doubts... ANATHEMA is my choice.....even though I wouldn´t classify them as a Prog metal band, since Judgement. Wink
Anyway they are just Pure Genius.Clap
Second choice, might be Opeth.

Then probably Vauxdvihl/Clockwork/Payne's Gray, but sadly they are too unknown

But Psychotic Waltz and Adagio are great as well!!!

great when such a good topic can be found twice!

It seems that I have to get Anathema and Meshuggah since the praising in this thread.

I guess I'll vote for Dream Theater but all of those bands that I heard are nice too.

MAudlin of the Well are worth the recognition.

Queensryche. Just for Mindcrime, though they definitly fall on the "Metal" side of the prog-metal scale.

Oh, Ayreon is my favorite from this list, no question. The Human Equation and Into the Electric Castle are both masterpieces.

I went with Ayreon because they are my second favorite and DT is killing everyone anyways so they don't need my support. lol I think DT should be put into Early DT and Late DT by the way because they are totally different with either Moore or Rudess.

Of those options Ayreon followed by Riverise. Threshold are up there with them, though.
