 Topic: Krautrock and Noise

how similar do you think these genres are, i was just introduced to some noise band, i think they were call Animal Crossing. At times they reminded me of Krautrock, definitely less listenable, but it had it's moments
Does anyone else listen to Noise music/rock/whatever you call it, do yo know the history behind it, do you think it's just kids banging on sh*t and sometimes coming up with melodies with noise scattered about it. What is your take on it?

i hate that, but alot of musicians i love have songs that are just noise to me

I like bands that makes lots of noise but use them in songs. Early Pink Floyd is a perfect example.

I love the experimental/post rock music, (a lot of strange but beatiful noises.)

Has anybody heard Jarmo Saari's solo album called Solu - all sounds created from his quitar. He studied a while in Berlin, and tho' a hard listen, there is humour there amongst the 'noise'.

I find that a Merzbow CD can replace a Faust CD at times, although they differ wildly.. if you listen to a noisy CD (Zeuhl, Noise, Avant-Garde, Psychedelia, Black or Doom Metal) in between each more melodic CD (Symphonic, Pop/Alt. Rock etc) it can improve the quality of each experience. that's one reason why I find marathon's of an artist's work especially tiring - there's no point when you're cleaning your palette.

Noise = Merzbow, Masonna, Whitehouse........
Noise Rock/Drone rock = Sunn)), Boris, ( well lot's of japanese rock bands ) !
I'm not shure how can krautrock sound similar to noise !

I think more people here should check out Nurse With Wound very Krautrock / RIO inspired stuff. Also check out Electrelane, who are very krautrock influenced band from Brighton in the UK.

Founders or immediate precursors of industrial music such as Throbbing Gristle, Chrome and Nurse With Wound owed or else appeared to owe a lot to Faust's "dadaist" ideals.
Anyone who enjoys the first Faust album should check out Nurse With Wound's The Sylvie And Babs Hi-Thigh Companion for a humorous and eclectic sound collage. The first "true" Nurse With Wound album (i.e. composed solely by Steven Stapleton) is Homotopy To Marie, which is rather like Faust turned evil if you're feeling more adventurous.
