well actually i kinda hate Labrie's vocal, but again, "self-rightenous" fans!! LaBrie sings well in a studio, but in a concert, blah!

Agreed. I loathe that over-dramatic, thin tone he has. He's the main reason I don't like Dream theater.

Roine Stolt. The forced end-of-line vibrato, the awkward phrasing and
the truly horrific pronunciation. Shut up n' play yer gee-tar, Roine.

hear, hear, I did not expect such a post from a Swede!! Sometimes Roine's vocal is also quite annoying for me.

Just glad to hear I'm not the only one, Raphael. He gets praised a lot, and I simply do not understand why.

Frank Bornemann of ELOY - just a little irritating, though I like their work very much. I would also like to get into RUSH's music but their vocalist... what's his name ... has put me off this group.

Oh, come on! Geddy Lee's voice isn't bad at all. I think he's a very good vocalist (maybe the lyrics help too, though).
Anyway, the "worst" vocalist has to be the one from Eloy. I would have prefered it for him to sing in German rather than sing in English with that awful accent. But he doesen't bother me much either, afterall Eloy isn't about the lyrics, it's about the spacey sound.

Agreed. Labrie is great in the studio but blah live.
Although I did get footage of him in 92-93, he sang really well live back then... nearly as good as in the studio.

Ohmygod, no.... Steve Winwood rules! He's got one of the best, most expressive voices in the business. It's true that his voice tends to strain a bit on the higher notes, but all in all his singing is fantastic, so soulful and moving. He's one of the real greats!

It's a two-way tie between Roger Waters and David Gilmour!

Indeed, both awful singers. Rick Wright is much better.

I know people are gonna get mad at me for this, but mine has to be Fish from Marillion...I downloaded about 9 or 10 songs off the Net, and, though the music is great , Fish sounds nasally, like he's got a cold.

We are not gonna be mad at you - Fish is not clasically trained singer, and it is the way he interpretes his great lyrics with his emotional voice that turns Marillion fans on.
Steve Hogarth could also sing very emotionally but forget about the tension that Fish provides.
