i'd have to say Can, but Neu! comes a close second, only just got Faust IV, havn't heard the others yet, so my opinion isn't that balanced yet.

Can. One of my favorite bands in general. Many bands are missing, Amon Düül II should really have been in the poll.

Although I love Groschnitt I do not think that they are Krautrock the way it is meant
Krautrock does not mean German prog rock >> but a particular style in which Grobschnitt has nothing to do
I went for Can

Grobschnitt is brilliant, and according to KRAUTROCKGROUP.COM it's krautrock.
I Prefer Ash Ra... they have everything in high quality.
BUT I JUST CAN'T VOTE!

I dare say you've discussed this in the past, but anyway..
Is "Krautrock" an accepted PC term? Because I see no references to "Woprock", "Limeyprog" or "Dagorap".
Responses particularly valued from German & Austrian music peeps.

From this list in order of preference:
1) Grobschnitt
2) Mythos
3) Ikarus
All three above are not Krautrock IMO.
My favourite Krautrock band must be Dzyan then, but I only have their eponymous album. Second Krautrock band I like is Amon Duul II (Yeti, Phallus Dei, Wolf City)
I do not understand Can (no matter how I had tried before I gave up convinced there is nothing to understand actually), and I do not like Faust at all.
I have not heard Ashra Tempel and NEU, thus my knowledge of this subgenre is limited, and on the basis of what I know this is not my favourite genre.
