Genesis. Such an emotional band with great theatrics, lyrics and one hell of a frontman.

I'm happy to see that Genesis is currently dominating this poll. What a great band. |

it would be impossible to decide which is the best band but one , though debatable, guide to judging the best prog rock band at the moment would be to look at PA's top 20 based on members ratings, though the ratings are for albums rather than bands, it must count for something!
GENESIS 4 albums
PINK FLOYD 3 albums
YES 3 albums
KING CRIMSON 2 albums
RUSH 2 albums
JETHRO TULL, ANGLAGARD, CAMEL, RIVERSIDE, DREAM THEATER, VDGG 1 album each |

They're all so great, so different, it's so difficult to choose...Lately though, I've been in a Jethro Tull/Moody Blues, um.. mood, so I went with Tull. Edited by _sam_ - May 13 2006 at 20:15 |

In terms of Symph prog I'd have to say Genesis also their prog career was a little bit more consistant than Yes, they also had a bit more output in their golden age.

Out of the list, Rush, for consistency in their outstanding music (minus 'Presto'). But my favourite prog band is Gentle Giant which wasn't included. All bands on this list are very good though.
