Let's hear what your opinion is! My best pro-metal band is Dream Theater. At the second place KamelotWink

Dream Theater and Ayreon are the only bands from this genre I can listen to. Sometimes Ayreon is questionable.

None of my favourite groups were featured on the poll, so I went ahead and voted for the least sucky one - Opeth that is.

I voted Opeth with Tool being a close second, Ayreon and Dream Theater are to over the top for me and not dark enough.

Dream Theater is still my favorite but Opeth is a close second.  Also enjoy Tool, Symphony X, Riverside, and Threshold, which is not on the list.

Problem with this list of so-called 'prog-metal' bands is that, for instance, some of them haven't been making 'prog-metal' for about 10 years now (guess for whom I voted Wink ) and a lot of them don't have anything in common with others.

Comparing Devin Townsend's beautiful music with the... ehm... sounds a band like Kamelot produces, within one poll?
Anathema to me - in both senses of this post. The whole 'prog-metal' category needs a severe cleaning up.

Jesus never managed to figure out the theremin either

Anathema is my favourite and therefor my personal best band. Although artists such as Dream Theater and Devin Townsend's solo stuff are musically seen maybe 'better', there's no emotion in their music. (Although there's humour in Devin's music LOL)

Meshuggah, DT and SX are my favorites. I'll go with Meshuggah though.

The problem is Dream Theater popularized Prog Rock, but my Vote is for Tool (one of the best bands in the world)

I voted Dream Theater and I hope that in a couple of years (and albums...) Mindflow will also be included in polls like this one.

I was never a fan of Dream Theater.
