I have a project for my final project from my school and requires some feedbacks from you guys.. I know you guys won't disappoint me... Cos the PA peeps rocks!

It just takes about about 8-10 minutes of your time by feedback to my band's song including listening to the song.. It is a short Prog song. Less than 5 minutes only...

http://www.purevolume.com/nottoosure (It is also available for download too)

So here comes some of the guideline questions.

1) What do you think or feel about the song?

2) In your opinion, what do you think the song is trying to convey?

3) What do you think of the production (Good/bad) and some of your comments?

4) What area do you think needs to be fixed musically or Critiques?

5) Did the production help the song's vibe?

6) How many stars will you rate this song out of 5?

7)Will you buy this single (regardless the price) if it is out commercially?

8) Your last thoughts?

Your help will be greatly appreciated! Big smile

Thank you for giving me your time in this feedback!

Okay, this might hurt, but you asked. (being nearly 50 I am probably not your target audience, so ignore everything I say). Production is pretty bad. This may be just the sample rate you used for the stream. Guitarist is good, but not a speed player and as such should work on melodies, not quick arpeggiated sections. Other players (if there are others - don't know whether this is a band or a solo project) okay. Stop listening to Dream Theater and make your own style. Sorry for the negativity, but you have the ability, so use it.

I'm not as old as cobb , but I have to agree that the sound quality is pretty poor, and the artifacts make it a bit difficult to hear the music in places.

There are some good ideas in there, but again, I agree that the guitarist needs to play within his limits - and I'm personally not keen on the lead synth sound, or the way the synth lead ends so flat.

The bassist particularly should not be soloing until he/she has got to grips with the basics of the instrument - it's much too Spinal Tap.

Maybe that's a bit unfair - a more structured solo that draws on material already in the piece would work better - instead of the latest licks he's picked up and wants to show off. You can always take a little part of those licks and work them into existing material, then you've got some bits left over for other tracks (same goes for guitar and keyboards).

The track as a whole is a bit repetitive to be truly Prog to my ears - but then so are Queensryche, so what do I know?

I do think that there are some good ideas in there - I wouldn't buy it because it feels like there's no emotion or real feel for the direction of the music - in other words, it begins and ends, and both good and bad stuff happens in the middle, but it doesn't truly progress.

And it probably needs vocals - it's not quite interesting enough musically, although that could be worked on, if you wanted it to be an instrumental.

To "fix" it, you'd need to stand back and re-listen as if you were hearing someone else's music. Try putting it onto a playlist along with some other prog - some you like and some you don't like, making sure that you listen to at least 10 tracks before yours comes on.

The main fix it requires is in terms of formal construction - and that's your job as songwriter.

Keep writing!

My computer speakers sound really weird at the moment for some reason, so i can't really comment on the quality of the recording.

I will say i like the composition. I like the drumming and bass. I wish my speakers weren't playing up so i could make a true comment on the tones though. The guitar solo was alright. The bass soloing is ok too.

Reminded me of The Flower Kings actually, just heavier in places.

Sorry i can't be of more help.

First off all I dont think your recording was lucky with the mp3 covertion.

Especially the drums are suffering from this.

So its hard to jugde recording productive wise.

The playing on the other hand is outstanding, very pompus and powerfull.

I really like the arrangment, its sounds like a great jam playing this stuff.

Nice job, I`m impressedClapSmile

Sounds pretty good man. I didn't particularly love the riff, was a little too basic for me, but some of the drumming was very good, and the keyboard parts were good as well. I wouldn't call it really progressive, but a good song still. As a bass player, I don't think the bass solo was awful, but it didn't particularly go with the song. Still a good song overall.

It's very uplifting and inspirational. I'm impressed

2) In your opinion, what do you think the song is trying to convey?

So far all I'm getting is you're trying to convey how good you guys are. I don't feel any concept attached to it

3) What do you think of the production (Good/bad) and some of your comments?

I don't mind it actually, its better than my bands production! It's not the cleanest sound, but I mean you're not professional and nor do you own a lavish expensive studio, i'm guessing.

4) What area do you think needs to be fixed musically or Critiques?

I think there needs to be more work on the transitions between sections. They seem to come in too fast at some points. I think the solos for the guitar and the keys are good but they come off somewhat weak and less fluent...I'm not sure, if the guitarist or keyboardist was nervous or not, but otherwise there's good ideas there. Plus I think this song could've used vocals or something to give us an idea of what you're going for musically. I didn't mind the fact that most of the song was 4/4, but if you really want to be prog, take some chances!

5) Did the production help the song's vibe?

No it just made it a little imperfect.

6) How many stars will you rate this song out of 5?

4..it's definetely better than I can do at the moment with my band.

7)Will you buy this single (regardless the price) if it is out commercially?

No give me an album and I'll think about it.

8) Your last thoughts?

You guys seriously need a vocalist. Or otherwise, listen to some Camel to get some ideas about improving your instrumental compositions.

I really like this song. It has lots of different, quickly changing ideas that i really like. Yet brings back the main themes sometimes which gives it a good structure. I agree that perrhaps the guitar solo was a bit conventional but i don't think it took much away from the music. I didn't really have any problem with the production it sounded good to my ears. I would perhaps put a bit more emphasis on melody with the guitar but other than that fabbo. 4 stars from me
Another emotional suicide, overdosed on sentiment and pride

I quite enjoyed it. I think the stream is adding some unwanted 70's phase shifter.
