Best really REALLY cheap distortion pedal.

Notice a trend folk? I run on a TIGHT budget, but I get to, I'm hald Scottish. But hey! What is the best budget crunchy pedal out there? I am talking sub £20 budget. I am spending a good wodge of coash on a Marshall Echohead delay pedal (prog-TASTIC!), but I need a little bit of dirt in my signal chain, as my trusty old Korg AX10 G is not fit for stage use... well neither is a sub £20 crunch box, but you see my drift. Those wee Behringers? They any good? I go on Harmony Central, but its half and half with anything there, people either love their kit or hate it!

anelectro it will probably be! I was listening to live at Leeds today, the way Townsend uses a mildly crunchy amp then a fuzzbox is genious.

You could simply eat several cans of beans and apply some rear-miking for a similar effect, if you don't want to ruin your expensive speakers.

     

As a thought, instead of splashing out a huge wodge on a delay, and getting a cheap fuzz box, why not go for a Line 6 Pod?

That'll give you several delays and fuzz boxes - not to mention flangers, phasers and amp modelling, so you can sound like you've got a Mesa Boogie.

The last time my band rehearsed, my friend brought along his sister's toy speaker/microphone thing (presumably so kids can sing along with a CD). It was low enough quality that using it created a heavy distortion sound (plus, it had an echo knob). We tried holing it up to the gutar/bass amps, but we got the best effect out of it by putting it in the bell of my trombone (which made it sound almost exactly like an extremely distorted electric guitar).
