Yeah, it's big, more like an orchestra than anything else. But if all these talented powerhouses got onto one stage (albeit if they overcame any differences they may have had) they could probably make some of the best music ever heard. I'd kill to hear one piece by a lineup this killer.

Helmut Hattler on Bass
Dave Stewart and/or Jordan Rudess on Keys
Gary Burton on the Vibraphone
Ginger Baker on the drums
Ed Wynne on Guitars
and the whole band Alamaailman Vasarat as Brass Support
+an amazing Percussionist

Some of the suggested combos are incendiary!!
I have no suggestions for personnel, but given the expected half-life of some of these, how about "Unstable Nucleus" as a band name?
Oh, and I know its only a thought expt, but a special Nobel Prize for Optimism to the two or three guys who picked Fripp & Lake in the same band   |

 And I think earlier on someone suggested a band with Emerson, Fripp and Blackmore.... I'd call that "H-Bomb" straight away!

Replace Portnoy with Danny Carey and you got the band!!!! I would have said Peart, but his playing as of late has become more jazzy. I think Carey is the next drummer to be reckoned with.

Caery is a great drummer but IMHO he is still behind Portnoy for sheer
virtuosity. He can play in any time sig, has the double bass skills of
a death metal drummer, and can mix it up with shuffles and such like he
did on the LTE albums. He has played all of the classic bands (Beatles,
Zep, Floyd, Who, etc.) and does prog rock with Transatlantic.

What a stupid thread! Do you expect such an 8-piece band put together with chewing gum and fishing line to make any sounds worth listening to?
Haven't you heard of members who hate each other and leave or would like to kill one another fighting for their musical visions? Maybe your favorite guitarist and your favorite drummer could become enemies after a while. Maybe your vocal idol would sing like crap in compositions not made by the leader of his current band.
Persons are more than instruments.
