Hawkwind.

Eloy are too much of a "nearly Hawkwind, nearly Pink Floyd" cross with no real distinctive sound of their own - apart from the dodgy vocals and iffy lyrics.

Hawkwind may have been inconsistent, but when they were at their best, they created the darkest, spaciest and most effective psychedelic sound ever.
The important thing is not to stop questioning.

Don't worry, I'm a new fan of Eloy and in the last week end I've bought their remastered "Colours".Wink
 
I also own the remasters of "Power and the Passion" and Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes".Wink
 
Next to be purchased: the rest of their whole discography!
 
Surprisingly my beloved record shop did not still have their most significant records "Dawn" and "Ocean".
 
BTW, they have all the remastered albums from "Inside" to "Metromania"Big smile

I go with HAWKWIND... if these poll is about spacerock most important band I dare to say that HAWKWIND is even more important and trascendental to this genre than Floyd or Porcupine... Don't misunderstand me I love PF and PT but if we're talking about space and psychedelic my vote will always go with Hawkwind...

Eloy are overrated in my opinion. Hawkwind on the other hand are awesome if a tad bit inconsistent at times.

And another one for Hawkwind. I'm a huge fan of both. Some of Eloy's work was virtually symphonic, so they should do better than expected on a site such as this. Things wouldn't be nearly as close in a space rock or psychedelic community, I suspect, as Hawkwind are better known and have therefore been more influential in those genres.
