Topic: Zappa: who? Posted: April 28 2006 at 13:13 |
My taste? Riccardo!
Never liked so much the other great Zappa.
BTW in italian language the meaning of word Zappa is: HOE (farming tool).

Great as usual, Andrea... By the way, in Italian we say "ignorant as a hoe"... not relevant to the subject, but funny nonetheless.
Back to music, I'm not an expert on either, but I know and like some of Frank's production - especially great instrumental tracks like "Peaches en Regalia".

Riccardo doesn't sound all that unique (granted this is only based on listening to the 7-8 sound clips posted to his home page)...FZ was absolutely unique when he surfaced on the music scene...

Very few can live up to Zappa's greatness.

Haven't heard Ricardo, but I highly doubt he would beat Frank in any respect.

Yep.
BTW, the most important thing is that both Zappas have here their own place.

Of course Frank is a legend, but Ricardo's Celestion and Chatka are very good prog! Sort of the Italian Mike Oldfield(but original not copycat, just a reference point) if you were wondering. Truly worth a listen and one of the best selling instrumental albums ever!

I have heard Celestion by Riccardo Zappa, it's very chilled and some nice music.
But for uniqueness and pure freakiness, nothing beats Frank!
