Cheers Ivan,

It's hard to put a figure on the deletions, but Atkingani and I try to acknowledge all reports with a response giving the action we have taken (and why is appropriate).

Thanks Fitz, I'll remove the duplicate. Edit - Looks like it was a display problem. The "permanent link" indicates there is only one review.

I think the point with these ones is that the reviewers have at least made some attempt to justify the rating they have given. Yes they are not great reviews, but they are in the main adequate.

(By the way, is your signtaure having a dig at a fellow member?)

I seem to have made a conclusion that all of the reviews posted here are deleted. Needless to say, I was surprised that each popular album's page is full of poorly written reviews that do not describe the music at all.

Actually how many reviews are deleted from the ones reported here?

I'm not sure what "having a dig" means, but I could understand it from the context that my sig was not appropriate - I have removed it. It seemed like a good idea to quote a funny line at the time, but I agree that the idea was obscene and immature now.

I don't, I thought it was quite funny!

Well, that was what I originally thought(that it was funny)when I decided to include the quote as a signature.

However, I suddenly understood that, unless Mandrakeroot is a joke account, he could easily get offended by somebody supposedly making fun of him. I didn't have that initial intention, so I figured it would be a good idea to remove it.

What does "having a dig" mean though? Is that informal?

Hi, Ivan,

I haven't the statistics but a great number of reviews reported here is deleted, but not all. When in doubt the reviews team talk before deciding to delete or to keep a particular review.

However, the reviews reported here are a fraction of the reviews that we have to delete cause many of the very weak reviews are deleted as soon as they reach the homepage. But it's obvious that the helping visitors of this thread give us is outstanding and we thank you all very much! Smile

Hi Guigo,

So, do you think that not a single of the reviews I reported is below any standards for reviewing? Easy Living, arguing, tells me that nothing is wrong as each review explains why he enjoys the album so much, although I don't see any explanation at all: "this is good, I like it, best of the genre, etc." or "this is not good at all, the singer sucks" is pretty much the most constructive argument of the reviews I supplied.

Doh... I think we have a kind of misunderstanding here, Ivan. Smile

For us doing the reviews moderation, this thread is the second best aide for checking if a review is weak or not (weak = not reaching the minimal PA guidelines). The first is PA homepage itself.

Normally, this is the first thread I visit when accessing PA forums and generally 90% of the weak reviews reported here are deleted, mainly because other visitors (just like you, Ivan) are fine reviewers and have the necessary feeling to be impartial consequently providing us with a good help! Cool

I don't know the exact words Bob (Easy Livin') told you but for me he is a tough guy when he's looking for reviews' quality.Thumbs Up

We'd be interested to hear other thoughts on the DT reviews Ivan listed....

I read some of them, and I don't see much of a problem.

I think that as long as the review shows that the author says something about the album and it's not a copy of another review, there's no reason to delete it - unless it meets some of the obvious criteria (abusive, insulting, wrong language ...).

The problem is: As soon as we start to rate the "cleverness" of a reviewer, the whole thing becomes too subjective. The only real goal of this review "filtering" should be to prevent abuse and obviously invalid reviews.

I see your point Mike. You are perhaps trying to say that the site should be more inclusive than not, just like M@X once said.

However, it would be better if this belief would carry on to bands submission more than the reviews. Sorry, slipped from my tongue. Tongue

By the way, what exactly is the site's position regarding Tool's leaked album 10,000 days?

I see that all the reviews were deleted at first, then the whole album was cleared from PA and now the album is back and another review has been submitted. The album will be out in a week, so can I ask: is it already okay to post out opinions?

That was something the admin team discussed with M@X Ivan. The policy, as now clarified by the site owners, is that albums can be added in advance of the release date, and reviews will be accepted.

I know I'm not who you were asking, but I was told the admin gave the ok to post reviews on 10,000 Days now, so I reposted mine which was previously removed for being too early.  The album will actually be out on the 28th in some countries, so actually it will be out in 3 days.

edit - by the way, the total time listed as 69 minutes is incorrect.  The track times appear to be correct, but the album is actually closer to 76 minutes long.

We have to be cautious since in some cases the leakage could be a hoax as happened before. I think that from now on each case shall be evaluated individually. Smile

Half of the people actually do claim that the leaked album is a fake, so I would be careful reviewing it until it actually comes out.

I cannot believe that people would think this is fake.  I honestly think its one of the best albums I've ever heard.  If it does turn out to be fake, then a section should be added just for that fake album, because its so good.

The argument of people that believe it is fake has been so strong that I simply can not accept that it is real. Not sure what exactly the album you(and me and others)heard was though.

I still think that reviews should only be accepted two days after the earliest official release date (varies between countries).

MAGMA — Spiritual

Review by jaycleveland2003

1 stars Here's why I gave this one star: IT'S A BOOTLEG! The warning went out over Magma's own record label's site, www.seventhrecords.com. This is a poorly-mastered compilation of tracks from "Live", "Udu Wudu" and "Attahk". Please, send the money where it belongs, to Seventh, and get the full albums. You'll love them! I promise!-Jason.

'Snapper' is publishing cheap compilations under license and NOT bootlegs.

Tadpoles keep screaming in my ear
"Hey there! Rotter's Club!
Explain the meaning of this song and share it"
