Wait was that my 10,000 Days review?  I didn't know we couldn't review a pre-release.

And will it be reposted automatically when the album comes out or will I have to post it again?

You'll have to resubmit it.

Have you saved a copy, int_2375? In case you haven't saved I can send it back to you.

How do you suggest doing that Antennas? I've posted in a couple of threads making it clear he is an innocent victim.

By the way, the bogus reviews can be easily spotted by the Admin team from the IP address.

You are right, Easy Livin... I should've thought about the 'how' question before I posted it. And indeed, you already cleared his name. I guess I was a mite angry when I read those bogus reviews. At least get those IP addresses banned, indeed!

TOOL "10,000 Days"
4 stars by rulfo1234

— First review of this album —

Hi:

Incredible piece of music!!!! All the time we had to wait was worthy every second for this incredible rock masterpiece. At first the new Tool sound is more dark and more heavy but equally emotional as Lateralus or Aenima. This new album has two incredible epics (both over 11 mins).

Once again every Tool member excels at playing. Danney Carey incredible drumming, Justin the best bass of any Tool album, and Adam Jones more amazing mind - blowing guitar riffs. And Mr. Maynard James Keenan providing amazing philosofical lyrics.

If you question yourself how did i get to listen to the album go to www.fullalbums.com there enter Tool and download 10,000 days. Sorry about this but I couldn't wait any more for the cd to go to stores so just download it.

Incredible album By Tool.

Another one Can't you just block it from reviewing?

Is this possible?

How about deleting the album until it is actually released  or stop  adding it to the database until it hits the market? It seems the only way to stop this?
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

blocking reviews is the best solution. Just add a column to the album database which contains the release date and then don't show the review form before that timestamp ... a really simple feature.

TANGERINE DREAM "Poland - The Warsaw Concert*"
5 stars by vap-tm
This is album has enchanted me almost through the whole history of my “relation” with Tangerine Dream and I am very strong that it will continue to enchant me for the rest of my life.It is one of those albums that leave you speechless and breathless. It is of a monumentality rare to be described,a monumentality that serves very well to the Tangerine Dream renowed class and to 11 magnificent masterliness years of electronic music from them.It is not one of those surprising,”shockers”,albums-given the fact that until now we are already used to glorious live albums (Ricochet-Encore-Logos et caetera),plus on the line of masterfullness it stands quite equal to every other album of the Golden Era.But here corelations really fade or turn into dust.As an album of its own, seen through the individual perception mode, this is magnificent scaled. One of Tangerine Dream’s superb album, one that makes me not more and not less that extremely content and extremely proud. From the perspective of corelation however,we do have some “not so good news” coming:Poland is the last album of the Tangerine Dream Golden Era.After the year 1984,heavy clouds of disorientation,of dismembership,of disillusion, clouds of bad seed, clouds of complete change, start to gather,to form,to spread virus.Yes,we say goodbye to masterliness Tangerine Dream albums with a perfect album,I can say.Yet let’s not necessarily judge the album as a closer to great things.Let’s judge in the posivite light of grandness,of pleasure listening,of soundscape and of spirit.

It stands as very-well outlined and elevated music.Tangerine Dream do here what they have projected, then acomplished so well,in the previous live albums:more than a show, more than just electronic music…movement music, musique grande, musique de lumiere…Within these four pieces, they put every resources and every manifest of magic they have, plus the eternal element of soul and passion, and create wonders.Truly wonders. This is music of quality I am afraid even to describe.”Platinum” writen all over it.An amount of aspects done perfectly and a special sort of details done even better than perfect.”Better than perfect”!.How great that feeling must be!Strong structure and cultivated, rafined and clear composition. The pieces are work of art in the full meaning of the word.Emotions also cross boundaries unknows. This is fresh breeze concerning a relation with Hyperborea;not really connected.Poland is a full album,a creation of its own.Of course, the style is undoubtebly well-fixed into the Schmoelling era, with light maneuvers of expression, with themes evolving to extremes separately, with the air of surroundness, with the sonority of the entire 1980-1984 period. And elements can easily be found in many other albums like these. But the “new” factor is well alive and,my God,so marking.Manner of approach and tehniques are very different from one piece to another. The title track is one open, tehnic even, more into the light of electronics, into the light of rhythms.”Tangent” follows the path of “Poland”,yet towards a more soundscaping feature, inclined more to estetic and luminous, towards a different sort of effect.Made in touch with themed corelations.”Barbakane” is a monography of spirit and desire.A striking message of how the pulse moves onward and only onward.Even a monography of a side of life, seen through the prisma of 20 minutes. While “Horizon” is a mass work of dark, ambiguous and diffuze matter. You can even consider “Horizon” the dedication towards what it was.Towards years of experiments and years of effect-seeking;with the drop of contemporarity,of course. The ending on “Horizon” is absolutely delicious;frenetic and electric. The emotions can very also.Through “Poland”,Tangerine Dreams show their enormous talent to move the spirit,to lift it up.Up into the high planes of divine pleasure.

I strongly recommend this album. It is one that for the fans of Tangerine Dream will be absolutely fantastic. As for those who just like the meddlings of Tangerine Dream,it will be of no sort dissapointing.Poland – a passionate expression of lifeless music.

-----------

It's mine!I've mistyped my e-mail adress.Pinch "vap-tm" instead of the correct vap_tm... can something be done to change into the correct form? Embarrassed

GENTLE GIANT — Interview
Review by eanmund44

2 stars This review is for the newly remastered, 35th Anniversary Edition:

*** POOR MIX! ***

I picked up this CD yesterday and am terribly disappointed. Whoever mixed this remastered version screwed up in a huge way. Gary Green's guitar tracks are mostly missing from the album. Sure there's some there on Give it Back and Empty City, but most of the rest is glaringly absent.

On the other hand, the guitar solos are mostly there, but they are sometimes painfully loud and harsh.

The CD also has a rather bland sound stereophonicly (or is it even in stereo?). The sound quality could also have benefitted from more treble / high end frequency response, but that's a complaint I've had about some of the other releases as well.

You'd think that DRT would have better quality control. At the very least, someone with some knowledge of music should of at least listened to thing before distributing it.

As for the music, it's not bad considering it's quite different from the early days of the band (prior to In a Glass House). It's along the same lines as The Power and the Glory and Free Hand. I'd give the music ~ 3 1/2 stars.

is this okay? I mean,to talk about the review only? Confused

...to talk about the edition only?

Not really, he barely mentions the music, and the star rating is at odds with the text. By rating the edition rather than the album he is inadvertently corrupting the ratings. I'll deal with it.Wink

I've noticed that there are questionable reviews almost everywhere, especially in cases where an album has been reviewed countless time and reviewers claim that "everything has been said so I will not add anything".

Just a few examples from the Top 100:

http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=11610 - details? That won't persuade anyone.
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=11596 - hey, and what about the music?
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=11650 - "Nothing to say about it" - we see.
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=11651 - he doesn't like it. Cool, but try to go in detail a bit deeper.
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=11638 - a lot of emotion, but no information.
http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=11706 - he doesn't like the lyrics, but 1 star?

And these are just reviews I took from the first half of the SFAM page. Needless to say, they are below any standards for reviewing. I've seen MUCH better, more intelligently written reviews reported in this thread, so I don't see why these reviews deserve to remain in the site - they just pollute. It is just an example of horrible reviewing of the past, I'll probably choose another popular album and list some of the dull descriptions of the music.

You should see the ones which were removed Ivan.Confused

I think the point with these ones is that the reviewers have at least made some attempt to justify the rating they have given. Yes they are not great reviews, but they are in the main adequate.

DREAM THEATER — Live at Budokan
Review by MajesterX

5 stars This is probably Dream Theater's best live DVD. The show starts out with As I am from Thain of Thought, which is a good and heavy opener for the DVD. It then goes into this dying soul with mind-boggling heavy instrumental sections and cool lighting effects. In Beyond this Life there is an interesting jam between keys and drums which extends the song 8 minutes. Hollow Years shows James Labrie at his finest. After two from six degrees it goes into endless sacrifice and a nice "Instrumedly" of the songs they didn't get to play.

After two from falling into infinity (trial of tears being very good) Mr.Rudess shows his technical skills with a crazy guitar-like sounding keyboard solo, leading into one from thier first album, a nice symphonic song made better live with James Labrie singing. The show ends after about 3 hours with In the Name of God, not my favorite, but I like it better now.

The 2nd disk features a nice tour documentary, a crazy drum solo from another one of the Japan shows as well as insights on gear with J Petrucci and J Rudess. The audio and escpecially video are much better than the other DT DVDs already out. This is unfortunately the only DVD so far that doesn't have a comentary. Though I don't think this is "an essential piece of progressive music" It is one that is essential is you are a dream theater fan.

I seem to have made a conclusion that all of the reviews posted here are deleted. Needless to say, I was surprised that each popular album's page is full of poorly written reviews that do not describe the music at all.

Actually how many reviews are deleted from the ones reported here?

I'm not sure what "having a dig" means, but I could understand it from the context that my sig was not appropriate - I have removed it. It seemed like a good idea to quote a funny line at the time, but I agree that the idea was obscene and immature now.
