How does Tool do this?? While Undertow and Aenima are mostly  alt.metal albums with art rock influences, Lateralus topped the charts by being one of the least accessible and probably the most complex prog metal album I have ever heard! (they even play with Fibonacci's sequence in the title track's verses for god's sakes!! ).

Now, 10,000 may most likely be a progression on Lateralus. It may even be so otherworldly and mellow that it could make the great Lateralus be a mere transition album.

So, 10,000 appearing to be a prog rock release doesn't stop it from being a commercial success. The album didn't even come out and it is first in amazon's sales rank for quite a while (with pre-orders!!) How do they do it??? It's absolute prog stuff ... how did the bizarre "schism" make it to the radio? Anyways, this is great as many people will experience the beauty of art rock and probably stop listening to crap and begin listening to great prog

I am so excited with this album, I have the feeling that it will become my favourite modern prog album of all times, beating anything from the Flower Kings and Lateralus itself.

Whoa there...wait 'til you hear it! I hope it'll be as good as you expect but you're setting yourself up for a fall by expecting so much of it!!

I pre-ordered it myself, from a local record store that is.

On www.toolband.com you can already listen to a sample. I don't know what to think yet.

Either way, I can hardly wait until I get it!

There's plenty of stuff to listen to until it's released.

Yeah it has, listening it right now. I'm not even ashamed of getting it because I know I'm the first one in the line waiting it when it is released.

I'm not listening to the leak, I'm gonna wait till my CD arrives. For some reason that is much more psychologically fulfilling to me :P.

I'm sure he would really like Tool, you know, if he were still alive.

Yeah, man.  don't build it up too much.  Tool are great, but they are still human.  If you expect too much you can be disappointed.

That said, I have the leak and it is very very good, but different from what i expected.

In what ways? What's it like? Really metal, or more mellow? More complex or more easily accessible?

I found the leak but debating whether or not to get it.  Its in a format unknown to my computer.  I probably will wind up not downloading it.

Schism wasn't that bizarre. I think it's a very radio-friendly track.

I'm not a big Tool fan at all but I will probably still get the cd. Is it mellow? that would be great I dont like the heavy side of tool.

I can't wait to hear it.  From what I have heard and from what danny carey said, i suspect it will be heavier than lateralus overall, but im ignorant about it so dont take my word for it!

Yeah, it seems it had been leaked, what a shame.

Someone I know passed me "Jambi" and "Right on Two" ... I am impressed ... I am really impressed!

I can't judge an album by only two songs, but my hopes have soared and I am definitively buying this gem!! I won't get the leak, it is just disrespectful.

if you want to know ... it seems like they keep getting mellower and more progressive/sophisticated. The two songs seem to have the lateralus feel, but they are more complex. Jambi has extremely unusual "machine-gun" guitar riffs, mesmerizing bass riffing at full volume, phenomenal percussion and well ... Just incredible musicianship!! Right in Two has again some incredible drumming, catchy vocal melodies, and a very powerful climax!!!!

The drumming is out of this world! The rhythms are completely captivating! The singer sounds as good as always, The guitar is even better than on Lateralus ... if the rest of the music is of this quality, this will not only stand as my favourite prog metal album of all times, but my favourite album after the 70s ... those 2 songs are THAT good!

I'll find out how the album is when it is released ... I am so glad that the release date is getting closer and closer :)
