This review by fratelmaestro on Script For A Jester´s Tear is actually a review I wrote in august 2005 on rate your music:
Marillion´s debut with their own and less complex version of progressive rock, popularly named "neo prog". The stunning thing about this album is the bands maturity in the songwriting, it´s really hard to believe that this is a debut. Marillion where as this point of their career considered to be Genesis copy cats, something I have a hard time to understand. Surely Genesis is big influence for them, but so it was for many other progbands before and after Marillion´s debut. Actually I think that the band have more Pink Floyd influences (musically), and Fish main inspiration lyrically seems to be Peter Hammill. The music is obviously darker and more depressing than anything Genesis ever released. But there´s no reason to argue, this is a classic progressive rock album which truly deserves recognition, despite what all the prog snobs say.

loserboy doesn't say anything negative about the band or the album, and compares them to Soft Machine and Uzeb, neither of whom he ever gave a rating of less than three stars to (it's also the only one star review he ever gave, out of about 800+ reviews). This one is old and probably doesn't matter much, but I came across it and it seems like maybe a mistake. I'd PM this guy but I don't think he comes around any more. AREA Tic & Tac [Prog Reviewer ] AREA were one of the more varied Italian bands with their distinctive mix of prog and jazz genres. Without a question AREA’s early 70’s work is pure classic Ital prog, it was 1980’s release "Tic & Tac" that caught my ear. Sounding something in between SOFT MACHINE and UZEB this album moves and moves and never really stops and takes a breath. The band lineup included Patrizio Fariselli (acoustic piano, M.C.S. 70 synthesizer and electric piano), Larry Nocella (tenor sax), Giulio Capiozzo (drums), Ares Tavolazzi (electric bass, double bass, guitar), Guido Guidoboni (trumpet), Luciano Biasutti (trumpet).

I agree with him that its a good album, but the reveiw doesn't really tell me anything. Its more of pure praise than an intelligent review. |

UOVO DI COLOMBO, L' "L'Uovo Di Colombo"
![]()
this is definitely worth trying. not really symphonic, short tracks, kind of rock/pop
with prog tendencies. very enjoyable stuff. about instrumentation skill etc. i have
nothing to add. yes, i second the "don't overspend" remark, the album is just so short.
![]() ----- BTW,how is it that some reviewers (not collaborators,I mean) get linked to their personal reviews account, while some (like D here) don't? ![]() |

YES "Close to the Edge"
![]() The best of Yes and one of the best albums ever.
Wakeman plays like a god and Howe is superb. Squire makes a revolution in bass technique and Bruford makes the best drum ever in a symphonic progressive album. Lyrics are special too... Posted Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 00:12 EST | Permanent link says he likes it but doesn't explain why except that he likes each member. hmmm... |

Yep Video Vertigo, and gets worst: Review by sam_loyd (Felipe Betschart) ![]() Please, listen to me: there are a BIG BIG music, BIG BIG musician, BIG BIG inspiration... Wakeman doesn't like this album... but Wakeman, sometimes, is weird!! (Sorry, Rick, but you are fool sometimes!). 5 stars! This guy is thinking in BIG Generator LOL (BTW: I won't change my mind, it's tedious IMO)

![]() Yeah, we know that Levin (Not Levi BTW), Petrucci, Portnoy and Ruddess are good miusicians, but what about the album, we only know this guy likes it more than the first one.
The guy is obviously not a troll, even appears to be a nice pal because of the hug from Brazil, but seems to be a fanboy.

I say delete them three...I'm not supporting they prototype of saying
how the members are doing in the album instead of the album itself...as
for Topographic Oceans it's an semi-attack...
