They are shooting The Long Walk movie right now. I hope they do it justice because that is my favorite King novella. Ever since I read it,when I walk a considerable distance and start to feel fatigued,I think of that story. |

Jorge Luis Borges - A Universal History of Iniquity
Read three or four of the short stories contained therein so far, rather interesting I must say. |

I have Ficciones to read next. I have all the penguin translations by Andrew Hurley, minus the poetry, which I may get at a later date.
I've not really hit his good stuff yet though. |

I have each volume separated into books Ric. I have "The Universal History of Iniquity" (which is his first collection as far as I am aware), then I have a separate collection "Fictions" (which is of "Ficciones") and then "The Aleph", "Brodie's Report" and "The Book of Sand".
I don't think it's the same works, but if we start Ficciones together, then of course, that'd be similar. I'm reading this: ![]() I presume you have: ![]() I'm not sure where that Evaristo Carriego biography is, but it's not in my collection! Edited by Geck0 |

I like his books very much, but it's hard for me to describe them. You might like to start with The Name of the Rose. If you don't like it, you probably won't like his other books either. Edited by Vompatti |

I like "Baudolino" by Umberto Eco very much. as an historian who
specialized in ancient and middle ages it is very interesting to see
how Eco combined several myths of the middle ages in this book. and
very funny too. I read the other books of Eco too, but "Baudolino" is
my favorite

I've never read any Tom Clancy Mickey, so I don't know if it'll be hard going or not. Bare in mind I like Kafka and I'm just trying to get into Borges, I like the more challenging side of novels and short stories.
Thanks for the recommendations Vompatti and Jean. |

Ah Rico, we have almost got the same thing though, you seem to have a few of his earlier works that I do not have.
You do have Ficciones and A Universal History of Iniquity (or Infamy as it is often called also). Do let me know how you get on with them. |

His later stuff is much different I believe, Ficciones and The Aleph are apparently his best "collections".

I've heard people associating his work and style with Kafka's...and
Kafka's A BLACK EMPEROR
