Moonmadness was the worst one of those two.

I quite like the US Octopus better than the UK, altough I love the art of Roger Dean.

The UK Octopus is fantastic! Equally as good as the Yes covers, IMO. However, the US one features a dead, pickled octopus and looks very dreadful compared to the UK one!

The UK Moonmadness is simply beautiful, but the US one was just........weird, though it fits the album title better!

Both drastic changes, can't really decide!

I like both Octopus covers. I do agree with the above post that the cover of the US Moonmadness is fitting, but the artwork on the UK version is far better.

Moonmadness. I haven't even seen that cover. It's gross. The US Octopus cover is great, actually. Not better than the Dean cover, but not worse.

I prefer the Uk covers to both.

But the winner is moonmadness. The Uk cover isjust so much better.

What they did to Country Life by Roxy Music bothers me...one of the most beautiful album covers ever, destroyed!

Moonmadness was pretty much crappified in US, Octapus is tolerable at most.

It was thanks to the Roger Dean Octopus cover that I discovered Gentle Giant - I was already a Yes fan and thought that anything with a Roger Dean cover must be good (and generally is).

If I had seen the U.S. cover first I probably wouldn't have discovered GG for maybe another 5 years... album cover art heavily influenced my record buying decisions in the 70's!

As for the U.S. Moonmadness cover... sheer Lunar Sea!

I can only agree; it looks like a circus cover.

The US "Moonmadness" cover is simply an abomination Dead. The one on "Octopus" is not a patch on the original, of course, but at least it's tolerable.
