Geddy Lee is a great singer, granted he had to evolve but he spawned many.

I dont particularily like Geddy's voice but I couldnt dream of singing like him let alone while playing the Bass(quite well I might add).

Either way Mr.Lee get way too much critisism on this site and even though I also an not a fan I have to give credit where credit is due.

oh sure you'd be a fool to criticize his bass playing... but if Jon Anderson is under the gun at PA's for his vocals amoung many... you'd better believe Geddy would as well hahahhahaha. Besides Geddy isn't the only 'lead' bass player to sing as well.  Try the true and original 'lead' bassist and great voices of rock... Jack Bruce.

I voted for Gabriel (please don't kill me!) It's not that he can't sing, it's just that without instruments backing him up, I dont think would sound very good.

oh come on... who's bashing him.... it's the uber fanboys that are fun to bash.  I like his distinctive voice.. what's even more fun that kidding about his voice is watching the ultrasensitive Rush fans circle the wagons and cry about it hahahhahah.    It's all in fun.

Geddy Lee is great.

John Anderson is the worst. I would love Yes if it wasn´t for him.

it's funny how the littlest thing can turn you off of something.... I can't stand many modern prog groups for... the sound... it sounds so clean.. so overproduced. Specifically the guitar.  I like the 'dirty' vintage sounds of 70's prog/rock in general.  For the reason.. and really that alone I forsake an entire branch of prog.. and really don't think I'm missing anything considering it will take... forever hahahha... for me to reach Erik or ANDREW's album collections of the great 70's prog groups from across the non-English spectrum.

That I agree with.

Unfortunately, I haven't. Both Geddy AND his wife are Jewish, so I guess the ladies will have INCREDIBLY LARGE noses indeed

(no offense intended, BTW!)

Hm, well since Geddy's parents were Polish Jews I should defend my compatriot....

It is getting more and more interesting, we should bash Fish, cause he's Scottish (Slainte Mhath)

yet you still have time!

Well I'm playing through Octavarium again and I must confess I still find it hard listening to James LaBrie.
He just seems, well, an average metal vocalist IMO!!!

I agree to some extent. In Awake, for instance the heavy parts are outstanding, (The high screaming in Voices, Caught in a Web, etc.. Wow..)

But after his food poisoning in 94 it seems he has lost the ability to scream well. But he sings clean beautifuly, listen to A Change of Seasons, he sings fantastic. Although on Train of Thought, the heavy parts are just pathetic in my opinion. Infact the whole album has pretty weak vocals IMO....

The worst vocalist ever is Rod Tyler, the first vocalist of Symphony X... on their debut album the vocals are just HORRID.... He sounds like a 14 year old that has some kind of spiky cactus down his throat...

He's basically your casual nu-metal vocalist, but he's in a prog band,

it turned to "Why I don't like James LaBrie" thread - come on guys, Dream Theater are believed by mainstream critics to be one of the most "really progressive" contemporary bands.

Not that we care for mainstream critics.

yet you still have time!
