Hey all-

I am the singer in a classic rock, acoustic-folk band- a simple setup with an acoustic guitar player, a great drummer, bass player and a keyboardist who is ridiculously good with improv.

The way our music works is like this: we take a great classic rock or folk song, strip it down so only the lyrics are left over, and rebuild it. Some of the artists that we cover include the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Jethro Tull, James Taylor, CCR, Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, Blind Faith... and more of the greats of the 60s and 70s.

We are having a nightmare (i'll say it again- NIGHTMARE) of a time coming up with a name that states our purpose simply - we are re-kindling music that people know and love and presenting it in a different way.

We need a great name that's somewhat modest, NOT cheesy, and has kind of a outdoorsy-campfire song, "come hang out with us" feel to it.

WHO'S GOT A SUGGESTION FOR ME? ANYTHING WILL HELP!

What do you think about KRAKATAU?
I like the name (it's from Yngwie Malmsteen's instrumental track, I don't like him generally but this track is great...)

By what logic does "CHOWS" = "COWS"?

You eat cows. Duh. :)

Some ideas that I thought of this very minute, so some of them probably suck:
2nd Hand
Redux
Metamorphasis

And lastly, in true prog form:

Well, some good instrumentalists who strip songs...

Stript with ease (striptease, you catch my drift).

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Praying Mantis?
Trained Tarantula?

Hmmm... well, whenever you do get a good idea, it might be worth your while to see if someone already has it, so I'd check here http://www.bandname.com/

This way you won't run into trademark (or whatever legal thingies) that might result from a duplicate name. Some bands have changed names because of this.

Simple Revival

Simple from your own description and revival becuase that's what your doing. Anything with 'Revival' in the title has a come hang out campfire feel to it.

Since you mentioned folk another one might be:

 Simple Minstrel

I think that one flows off the tonugue nicely. If ya don't want it I might use it :)

How about "Recycle"??? I mean, if you take songs and to something new out of them...isn´t that recycling?...I think it´s good...

We also had a problem with the name...but now it´s taken care of...finally!!!!!!!!!!!!
