As they are not prog I hope it's ok to post this here! I have just (yesterda) set up a forum to discuss Within Temptation, thus far I am the only member.

If you like Within Temptation thenyou should listen to these guys....
 
 
This indie band is in the US and the singer is French.......
 
I prefer them to WT now!!! I know it sounds impossible, but check it out!!!!

^ IMO it's not particularly difficult to surpass Within Temptation - at least not from a prog standpoint. They're a decent mainstream gothic/metal band whose singer also happened to sing for Ayreon.
