Out of these I would say SFAM, but I would enter Ayreon to this as well - Into The Electric Castle and The Human Equation

This is easy question and simple answer - the best is "BE" - I mean ..... no doubt..... there is nothing better in the whole subgenre - concept or without concept....
Well, strange enough that I am the first to vote for it.

A solid 4 star album.
|
yes, I agree, and still the best in the whole subgenre

So nice to see the people growing up in right direction!

You know that we completely DISagree here, don't you?

My vote go for Fates "A Pleasant Shade Of Grey." I can really relate to the whole concept of living life in that grey area.

Of course I do; have never been overly optimistic anyway...

Scenes.. is my all time favorite album so it gets it here, though Sym X V and Be are close behind.

The perfect Element Part I, so intimate yet socially aware, intense and intelligent. Best album ever. My personal favorite for sure.

Scenes From a Memory has good music, but is a lousy concept.
Operation: Mindcrime is the most coherent and compelling story and is truly metal throughout so it gets my vote.
Honorable mentions would have to be A Pleasant Shade of Gray, Remedy Lane and Still Life.

Scenes from a Memory, followed very closely by Remedy Lane.
Forgetting to put any Ayreon in this poll, particularly The Human Equation,is a crime.

Scenes from a memory is so goddamn overrated. I think it's a really bland album. As far as the concept goes it's ok.

Bland how? I find it to be
DT's most moving album, so much variety of sound. It's one of a
handful of albums that can really trigger an emotional response from me.
I disagree that it's overrated - I really think the album has garnered
such acclaim because it's actually good, not because some fanboy
contingent talks it up or some such.

Hey:
no one for The Human Equation??
i know that Scenes are a masterpiece is beautiful, but i personally love The Human Equation the most, i think Ayreon is the "king" of metal concept albums..
just a personal point of view

I thought I was forgetting a band as I made this poll.... My apologies for the omission of Ayreon.

If anyone knows where I can get a copy of some Flute and Voice (Indo-Prog/Raga Rock) albums please PM me! Many thanks!

I don't understand the big fuss about SFAM. It's a good album with some really awesome moments but it's not a masterpiece, and surely not the best concept album of the prog. metal history IMHO. A solid 4 star album, not more but not less either.
