I'm sorry I didn't please you on this one, my dear Erik. I just didn't see the need to see the expansion of folk-prog sub-labels such as: Flamenco prog/Prog Andaluz, Celtic prog, Tango prog, Andean prog,... The folk prog label or a review describing a "symphonic prog band with stron folk tedencies" should suffice. The best thin that has come out of this wonderful thread is the call for attention on all these bands. There's this band, ALAMEDA, that is still to be included in the Archives: not the best of the Andaluz side of prog, but still a very good band with some great material in their discography.

It's no problem, Cesar, I only gave expression to my disappointment. I don't agree with your abovementioned opinion but life goes on  . It's great to notice that this topic has shown the increasing demand for Spanish prog, most of it is unknown territory for many progheads so it is grateful work to write about it, my dear Cesar, isn't it?

EXCELLENT INDEED! In a way, I envy your "newbie" position, the magic of listening to those albums for the first couple of times... that magic that never gets repeated again.

Cesar - you bring up valid concerns.....  lord knows I know nothing about Celtic, Tango, or Andean prog hahahha.  Though give me time hahah  Having it's own prog sub-label would definitely go a long way to stimulating interest in Prog Andaluz but I guess we should settle for this thread. I'll do my part to stimulate some interest.  Let's  hope that people actually read up on all the recommendations here,  and dip their toes in the water and get an album or two to check it out.

Flowers and going out for a dinner are excellent is my experience  .. On the other hand, me and my wife know each other for more than 20 years, she has that female intuition if I have something in mind that has to do with progrock and spending money .... ..!

hahhaha same here we've been married for 11 years.... Well she loved the flowers but  she knew I wanted something... she asked what it was....... I told here I NEED more  Prog Andaluz!!!!!... she just laughed and said that I'm hopeless.   You know what.... I guess I am hahahhah.  The jury is still out though... I may have to resort to.... other  means of persuasion hahahha.

I'll check out that website.... Thanks again for all the input.  I love those albums.

with me its the opposite situation, my wife (who loves prog as well, only ahe is not as deeply involved in as I) is constantly encouraging me to buy more cd's even though we try to save money for other stuff.

BTW, Erik, your thread has helped me discover new stuff, so thanks for that. I am constantly studying more about the different prog scenes in terms of genres and countries.

This week I sold many cd's and dvd's in order to show my wife that I am deadly serious about buying not too much prog ... .. then we went out for a dinner in our favorite Greek restaurant (mousaka, keftedes, baklavas, Mythos beer). Marriage is all about two happy people .. +  !

Yes, I love their first CD, one of my favourites from the Prog-Andaluz scene. "Amanecer en el puerto" is a fantastic symphonic-andaluz suite. They are the soft and melodic side of the Prog-Andaluz movement

Medina Azahara-En El-Hakim (contribution by new flamenco star Vicente Amigo)

Cai-Noche Abierta (wonderful blend of melodic symphonic and flamenco)

Azahar-Azahar (lots of Morish climates)

Iceberg-Tutankhamon (symphonic, jazzrock and some Morish atmospheres)

Triana-El Patio + Hijos Del Agobio (the most compelling blend of symphonic and flamenco)

Two albums in your list are also on my next purchase list .

I do feel that I ahev gone a bit too much lately in cd buying..., It's an addistion, I see prog (and metal) cd's and I can't help it... Maybe I need a support group .

I have not yet heard Atila, but I will track them down and listen to it definitely after reading about them.
