If you could own one instrument what would it be? Please though don't choose something and say the one Peter Hammil used or something, you have to want the it because its brilliant/beautiful/sounds great

I'd go for either Keith Emerson's modular moog simply because its so enourmous and intimidatingly complex or Jimmy Page's Gibson, an gorgeous piece of work and sounds intensely good.

I'd go for Avril Lavigne's guitar so I could sell it on Ebay and get money for it.

Hmm. I'd rather want something for its musical value, not just the money.

Probably Emerson's Moog for me.

Mellotrons, particularly the Choir one from Dancing with the Moonlit Knight, and the Sting-type one from Court of the Crimson King.

Also, Banks's Hammond organs sound delicious.  I like Emo's clicky organs as well.

And I would kill to have a guitar sound like Steves Howe or Hackett.

Steve Howe's accoustic guitar - what that man can get out of that guitar is truly brilliant. The same would go for Jimmy Page's Gibson ... ah well dreams are for free

Hum...

Phil Lesh's Modulus Q6 bass

Tony Banks - his Prophet 10 and ARP Quadra

Geddy Lee's Oberheim interfaced Taurus pedals.

One of Brian Setzers Gretch guitars. He's got a colllection of some of the nicest looking guitars IMO.

Trey Gunns Warr Guitar, it looks better than a Chapman Stick so thats the only reason I would have it over Tony Levins Stick.

Mellotrons typically had about 3 different sounds stored in them, like
strings, cello & flute, so you wouldn't need 2 different ones.

Ritchie Blackmore´s Fender Strat. The tone he gets from that is amazing.

A Model D minimoog would be my choice, for the simple reason that it sounds fantastic. Just love that fat Moog sound.

Until I win the lottery, I'll just have to make do with the Arturia minimoog V:

http://www.arturia.com/en/minimoog/minimoogv.php

which sounds pretty good, too (and it's polyphonic, unlike the real thing).

Check out the demos:

I'd like a mellotron or a moog or some kind of synth with lots of settings.  I already have a couple guitars.  I might like a bass or a trumpet too.

Yes... well I was being sarcastic because I don't feel too strongly one way or another. I'd want an instrument from someone I really respect, like from one of the members from Yes for example.

I would Get Omar's Guitar from his At the Drive in days, although I dont know if he still uses them now in the Mars Volta, but he makes (or made) his own guitars claiming that the quality of left handed guitars was lower than those of right handed ones. And being a Drummer I would also love to have Neil Pert's or Phil Collin's Drumset, seeing as they are massive with plenty of options as to what to hit.

For me, it would be a Chapman Stick with all the
extras (midi and effects stuff and amps). As
mentioned above, the Warr looks better. My
shoulders and back hurt just thinking about having it
strapped to me for longer than five minutes.

A Musicman Stingray 5 string bass would be my
second choice (though I might actually buy one in the
future).

As long as we're dreaming, an old Fairlight CMI
would be nice, just for the novelty of having
something that was so groundbreaking for such a
brief period of time.
