If I were to choose naming a role model for me, it would definitely be Mr. Fripp. Probably one of the very few musicians who care a lot about what they do and the role their music is supposed to have in other people's lives. Everything he does, from his attitude on stage to every musical statement he's ever made, seems to be well thought of and faithful to a personal and coherent vision. Not to mention his seemingly neverending inspiration. But what am I saying? you all know these things already.

Anyway, Jim Matheos is pretty close, basically for similar reasons (humble, inspired, obviously communicating himself through his music), but since I can't vote twice, I go for Fripp.

well he might not be the best example of a posative role model, but he sure deserves some respect

I have to go with Robert Fripp though. His determination is unbelievable. And although he may seem to be a stand offish prick, he has perfectly good reasons for doing the things he does. Like his whole thing with camera's. I can imagine it would be an annoyance to have people flashing camera's at you while you're attempting to give them some quality entertainment.

I agree with The Beard,Neil Peart is not only a terrific musician but a cultured,learned and sensitive guy.

Right up to Lifeson's contretemps in Naples,Florida I would have said that all the guys from Rush set great examples.Even then Lifeson was merely protecting his son (who appears to be a total ****) from heavy-handed policing.

Overall most Prog Musicians appear to be well-behaved,if a little weird..

In music thats gonna be Fripp and Howe.

But in other tings can be: Gabriel, Waters, Hammill, Barrett, Hackett, Gilmour and Zappa (also Fripp).

In diferent parts of my personality.

Hey if it werent for zappa i might be a huge pothead i think zappas a good role model and he teached me to speak my mind

I don't know how anyone could vote for Fripp

Yes, he's very intelligent and 'artsy' but he has on many occasions treated other people like total crap.  He may be a role model as a musician but not as person.

As for this group, I have to go with Carl Palmer.  Reached the apex of his genre and instrument, and couldn't be a nicer guy.  Should be sainted for putting up with Lake and Emerson for years.
