This is very true. I think the ambiance is all the better once you actually know the person you dialogue with. More respect and a better understanding of the person you pound the keyboards with.

All of the the progheads I met in Lindon were good blokes, with excellent humour and their encounter makes the forum even more enjoyable for me, and I am sure it will be the same on March 19th

I quite agree Sean. I was a real pleasure meeting you (and indeed everyone else) and I for one loved the face to face interaction. We covered so much ground and I learned lots about entire areas of progressive music I didn't even know existed. I believe that was entirely down to the what was discusssed that night (A big shout goes out to Trouserpress and Richardh in particular).

It's true that the more you learn the less you appear to know.
I must remind the right honourable gentleman that a monologue is not a decision.

Germans not into beers and not into BJH

You two do make a special pair

I am sure they will have plenty of South African wines.
The Dutch make a fixation on South African wines, unfortunately for me

don't forget I'm American by birth and came to Germany in 1993. I spent the first 24 years of my life in the USA. there also is the saying "beer is for men, champagne for women, wine is for both". and yes, red Bordeaux is fine with me

South African (SA) wines are not to my tastes, unfortunately

Whites: Pinotage and chardonnays, but I think that chardonnays are generally the easiest of white wines , but the SA wineries mlake it difficult for taste buds>> most are acidic

Reds: never drunk a red SA wine with a real body and lots of matter.

Without attempting to hurt anyone, from my observations,

the average Dutchman is a beer drinker (and a solid one too), but Wine is seen as artsy and trendy, so those drinking it are generally acute/sharp-minded people with a desire to be distinguished from the mass. However, one gets the feeling (from the average bottle sold in Holland), that wine is strictly a cult or social status. So generally the Dutch will turn to what they consider their closest cultural relatives: South Africa via the Boers/Afrikaaners link

All wine outlets (big or small) catter around the same products. Just under half the wines (around 45%) in specialized shops and supermarket shelves are from S Africa. Australia is around 20%, European (It, Fr, Esp) around 20% and US-Chili is the rest 15%. The prices are hefty for the quality also , especially compared to Belgium (which is a similar beer drinking and non-wine producing country).
