He makes the mistake of singing these lyrics beautifully, which is plain nonsense, in my opinion. The lyrics have nothing to do with beauty, and the voice should mirror that. That's what I love about Peter Hammill: You don't need to understand a word to understand what he is singing about. He would have sung that line totally differently.

Its no mistake and it is sung perfectly. Please don't make fictitious rules about singing!

You don't like Relayer, so why argue about it. The song is sung correctly.

It's a free forum - who are you to tell me what I can or can't argue about?

I'm not telling you, I'm asking you, thats why I used "why"...duh!

OK, well the answer is that it's a free forum... double duh!!!

How can anyone sing a song "perfectly"?

They can't. Its just my opinion. No one can be absolutely perfect and this is just a cheap point scoring shot.

Hence the sticky-out tongue... Duh!

I don't believe your sticky out toungue to be honest. And even if I did, you ignored Horza's laughing Smiley after his "head up arse" comment.....

What does that mean - you don't believe it to be "honest"?

And Horza's laughing smiley could be interpreted in a mischievous way - I did not ignore it. On the contrary.

If you truly think Yes are the greatest prog-band ever you haven't heard much.

And so speaks the true Prog snob ellitist. I always new you looked down on us lowly mortals who loke "pop" music like Yes, Genesis etc.

Why do you think CTTE is number one? It must be because it is mercilessly played on MTV all the time. People who rate it so highly must be morons who mindlessly accept anything fed to them!

If Magma or Gong had the number one album here wpuild that make you happy? Of course not, how copuld you be a patronising, condescending elitist then?

Please do not admonish other forum members or collaborators in such a way or call them names - it is against the forum rules.

I didn't call her a name. She is patronising. So are you come to that!

Calling her a "patronising, condescending elitist" is calling her a name. I know she can stick up for herself, but it looks like you need a reminder of the forum rules.

And whether she or I are patronising is entirely a matter of opinion.

In my opinion, neither of us are.

Either debate the points or shut up.

No you shut up! You can't can you?

I didn't tell you to shut up... read the sentence again, will you?

It is VERY bad form to make personal comments about people, collabs or not, and people like you are making the administrative side of this site look bad.

I just dislike you and baldfriede so much I couldn't contain it any longer........sorry.

Maybe - and I accept your apology - but you should not break the forum rules in order to tell us those sort of things - that is what the PM is for.

Whether you like me or not is hardly my concern - that is your problem. Don't make it everybody else's.

You are a Collaborator on this site.

Act like one.

Is it? More like labelling really.

No I don't...not from you at least.

I certainly have no wish to PM you.

I don't find it a problem for me or anyone else.

"People like me" can't do that. You pigeonholed me, so, I'm stuck with it. I'll act as I see fit thanks.

I have been careful not to insult any member here, collab or otherwise, by name calling. If I have failed in that I appologise.

You'll have to stop this argument - you're going to run out of colours soon.

Fragile claims that The Ladder is dire trite except for Homeworld. I disagree completely. Sure it´s different to classic Yes of the 70´s but it is a good albumSmile

Sorry Dr Know when Yes  did the Ladder tour  I almost walked out of the concert it was so cringingly bad. I stayed, but one of my friends got up and went and missed the rest of the show.If you like this album then fair enough but for me it's all the things that were wrong with Yes from Tormato until they made 'Magnification' which had they given Steve Howe more of a say in would have been a very good Yes album.

For me the absolutely indispensable albums are 'GFTO', 'Relayer' and 'CTTE'. Most of their other albums are excellent, and I think 'Talk' is criminally underrated. The only album I don't regard with any particular fondnes is 'Open Your Eyes', but even this contains some great songs like the title track and 'Love Shine'.

When I bought The Ladder yesterday I also saw they had a live Yes-At the house of blues, or something like that. Would anyone reccommend it? Or is it the Ladder tour? These CD´s are on sale, otherwise I would go for some earlier stuff but it´s pretty expensive and I´m on a tight budget at the momentEmbarrassed

It's not a bad live album, it has a good version of Perpetual Change. It's not as good as the other live ones but still worth having if you can afford it.

Snow Dog, you are out of order.

Consider this a warning.

Sheesh - two in one thread?

Sheesh - two in one thread?

I counted 3 Collabs all exhibiting behaviour deserving of an admonishment, not two.

Nobody has been warned-for heaven's sake how do you pick the pieces out of this train wreck?

Ok,Cert,Horza and Snow Dog-way to go!

I have two options:

  • Delete all the off-topic posturing
  • Close the thread

I think I will close the thread but leave it here as a "how not to go about it" example.
