 Topic: I’m looking for a new Guitar

I'm new to guitars, and I only have just one ibanez strat. I'm looking too buy a new one and I'm not sure what would be best for me, any reccomendations?

- What type of music are you playing?
- How often are you going to play? (Many guitars go out of tune with repeated playing)

^I'm new to, only have been playing for about a year and a half, still taking lessons, but recently I've been playing some Classic Rock stuff, (I.E. Zeppelin, Rush, etc.)
I play on average a couple of hours a day. It's very rare that I won't.

My recommendation: Buy yourself a entry level Line 6 Variax.

My recommendations: Get your self a strat!
FENDER Jimmie Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat at $579!
Great affordable strat that does everything you want a decent strat should do!
Really great even for distorted sounds with those meaty tex-mex single coils! 
You could also try a HSS strat (Humbucker, single coil, single coil) To see if you prefer the humbucker sound!

Yay cool! Do you use humbucker in bridge postion or sngle coils all the way?

unfortunately.. its single coils all the way.. i have used a humbucker guitar before, and i must say it has a better sound than a single coil.

Ah i got Noiseless single coils but i actually prefer the single coil sound although i can get to sound really meaty like humbuckers as well

My advice is the usual; go to many music shops and
try out as many as you can. Try out ones with single
coils and humbuckers. Try some way out of your
budget, just to hear what they feel and sound like.
You really have to decide what sound you like, the
features you want and what budget you want to
spend. Keep in mind that identical year, make and
model guitars can sound different.
One man's Les Paul is another man's Strat. (or one
woman's Les Paul...)
I have a Telecaster that I put together from various
parts. I also own an Epiphone Les Paul Jr.
At jams, guitar snobs chuckle when I plug my ultra
cheap Jr. through my pawn shop distortion pedal
and then through the 'aux in' jack of a record player.
All chuckling stops when they hear the loud, "Live
Rust" sound that I get. I've had many offers to
purchase my stuff. This goes to show you, it's not the
money you spend on the guitar or type of guitar but
finding the right guitar, effects and amp.

I wouldn't buy a new guitar if you've just been playing for 1 1/2 year.
(Sure, I got a second one after three months but that was because the
first one was second hand and stopped working. Then I fixed it :D)

Musician's Friend (musiciansfriend.com) sells what are known as StratPaks.
- Guitar (w/tremolo, in your choice of 4 colors, I think)
- Amp (either 10 or 15 watts)
- Gig bag
- Strap
- Cables
- Picks
- Instructional video/DVD.
- Strings too. Almost forgot.

Who needs a strat when real men play bass:
Just kidding six-stringers...
A strat is a good place to start. Buy a quality instrument. Don't go the cheap route. Resale value on a cheap guitar is $0.00. With a quality guitar, you can sell it if things don;t work out.
A $300.00 dollar ain't a bad place to start.

The Line 6 Variax starts around $400, and it offers both a Les Paul and Fender (Strat and Tele) sound + many others. My only problem with it is that it only has 22 frets, and no vibrato system.

Who needs more than 22 frets anyway! 
Besides lets not forget that i find strat necks (especially V's) to be much more comfortable and the nice fender medium jumbo frets bring out a nice sustain as well... And a cheap line 6 variax is far from the meaty fender sound that a fender tex mex at $500 i can tell you that
But ofcourse you should def try them guitars and see if you find a neck and frets that suits you, some like really tall and fat frets, some like fat necks and so on, but i still have found the LP 59 and Strat V neck to be the most comfortable in my opinion
Also many tend to diss the fender synchronized vintage tremole, but i tell you this: as long as you tend to stretch out the strings abit and use the tremolo alittle and then retune them they usually stay in tune pretty much!
