I choose: Achilles Last Stand. (both solos)
So much power!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing soloing.

Great choice. The entire song is amazing, and I feel it doesn't get enough recognition.
I personally have no favorite guitar solo. There are simply too many good ones. For the sake of the poll I too will pick Achilles.

I really like most Maiden and Yngwie solos from the 80s. Some other of my favorite solos are...
(in no order)
Steve Vai - For the Love of God Steve Vai - Crying Machine Joe Satriani - Friends Buckethead - Nottingham Lace Cacophony - Desert Island Megadeth - Lucretia Tony MacAlpine - Christmas Island Planet X - Moonbabies Planet X - The Noble Savage Planet X - Ignotus Per Ignotium Planet X - Atlantis trilogy (especially Sea of Antiquity) Planet X - Inside Black Derek Sherinian - Axis of Evil Symphony X - The Accolade II Deep Purple - Highway Star Rainbow - Stargazer Bruce Dickinson - Omega Bruce Dickinson - Arc of Space Judas Priest - A Touch of Evil Judas Priest - Painkiller Judas Priest - Electric Eye Black Sabbath - War Pigs Led Zeppelin - Black Dog Pink Floyd - Comfortably Dumb
That all I can think of at the moment... but my favorite solo is Black Star or Far Beyond the Sun by Yngwie.

John Michell's solo on Arena's "Solomon" is my favourite. But Arena's "Fool's Gold", "Serenity" and "Sirens" is also excellent.
From the list I would choose Comfortably numb, from P.U.L.S.E.

how about CREAM- Deserted Cities of the Heart. I LOVE that solo.
EDIT: hearing it live this year (or "last" year) was incredible. Of course it
wasn't nearly as good as the original but I was ecstatic when they started to
play the song. It's my favorite Cream song.

My favorite from the one on the list is Comfortably Numb. However, Steve Hackett's solo on Neal Morse's ? album, song "12", has to be the best I've ever heard. Unfortunately, most people haven't had the pleasure of hearing this amazing solo.

Ritchie Blackmore's guitar solo on "Child In Time" is the best IMHO...

I would just like to thank whoever put this poll together for not putting Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" on the list. Once you've heard that solo, you've heard it a million times. So overrated.
