Norway’s prog metal masters Green Carnation – who has received critical acclaim worldwide for their back catalog of work, most notably the epic one-track opus Light of Day, Day of Darkness– return to the music scene today on a much softer note with ‘Acoustic Verses’ (via The End Records in North America)
‘Acoustic Verses’ finds the sextet successfully maneuvering through acoustic realms, peppered with passionate guitar riffs and eloquent melodies. It’s a distant step from their prog metal/hard rock ways of previous material, but in many ways, it’s what you’d expect from a band like Green Carnation. Never one to stand still. So yes Green Carnation have changed things up again, and yes this might send some previous listeners askew, but for the real die-hard fans of the band they’ll come to understand that with the amount of work that went into the production, lyrics and music of ‘Acoustic Verses’ that the music here is just as potent and expressive as any of the heavier material they have released. Here is what the critics are saying about ‘Acoustic Verses’:
“Green Carnation continue to defy classification with their latest The Acoustic Verses.” – Sea Of Tranquility (4/5)"Through delicate and subtle sound textures, with their acoustic album, Green Carnation create an epic and expansive opus of a truly magical nature..." - BW&BK (8.5/10) “Mind-altering music that gets under your skin and stays with you long after a host of heavier, louder assaults have come and gone. A somber trip for the open-minded. – BLABBERMOUTH.NET (8/10)More info:

Haven't heard it for a while, but made me want to get light of day day of darkness when it was released, so couldn't have been too bad.
