After all, they were never as innovative and diverse as the Beatles, as emotionally charged as Radiohead, or as influential as Deep Purple. (There are EASILY a hundred metal bands for every prog band). That, and they are FAR less consistent than any of the aforementioned bands.  Also, this is the band that popularized the notion that you had be a vituoso (Whatever that means!) to be considered a 'progressive' musician. These are my technical and moral reasons why I do not consider Yes to be a progressive band.

Therefore, I believe that they should be removed from Prog Archives immediately.

LQ I am glad to see you have a sense of humor.  But I don't think Yes should be the next to go.  Jethro Tull has already been eliminated.  I think ELP should be next, followed by Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, Gentle Giant, VDGG leaving Genesis the only true progressive rock band.

Hahaha.  I am glad to see that everyone has a sense of humor today.  Gentle Giant could never ever be considered a non-prog band.  They are pactically in the definition.  Hahaha.  I love the Giant...

Anyway, I am glad that Lord Qwerty decided to say something about Yes because I have always sort of felt that way.  I mean, I like them, I think they are progressive but not as much as a lot of other bands and definately not deserving of the number 1 album of all time.  THAT'S WHY THEY DON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE!  Way to go, Thick as a Brick.  <3

Nah. Yes have never been prog. Actually prog didn't ever exist. It's all about illusions of complex time signatures and pseudo-classical tunes that particular type of people have while listening to the music of some weird rock bands that were rejected by the society.

The only REALLY progressive band was The Wombles. The added drama, costumes and did away with proper instruments completely.

Add them immediately!

The Big Generator is way more progressive than Abbey Road

I'm not much of a Yes fan myself, always preferred The Chimpmunks

Found them far more innovative and mature

When they started out - and even when they were in their heyday, Yes weren't prog, and nor were the other so-called "Prog Greats".

The term "Prog Rock" was invented posthumously...

Gentle Tull totally agrees with Lord Qwerty!

I think we should take out Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant, and other "prog" greats, and add Blink 182, My Chemical Romance, and Fall Out Boy. They rock!

Last week I may have been excited about that but then I read that TAAB was number one, then number two, then number one, then number three, then number two, then number two, then number four, then number three, then ....

How's this . . .I think ELP should be next, followed by Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, VDGG leaving Gentle Giant, the only true progressive rock band

Get rid of Yes and get Mariah in here ASAP!

I know prog when I hear it and Yes is closer to pop than Madonna. Have you guys never heard Close to the Edge? It sounds like the flamin' Bee Gees...

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Everyone knows that Yes is absolute garbage, they have never done anything cool like epic songs and albums. I think that it is only fitting that Yes Rush Gentle Giant Opeth Pain of Salvation Dream Theater Therion Genisis King Crimson Marillion Frank Zappa Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd all get removed as well, music is overrated I mean, come on, people on this site must be doing something wrong, everyone watches MTV now because they sure as hell know real music, can only come from power chords and music turntables.

Besides, listening to too much of Jon Anderson sounds like it could be a bad influence on some people...
