doesn't matter as long as it's artistic and fits the album.

Most of my favourite covers have been painted. Some photographic covers are cool though.

It doesn't matter in which form they come, but they still matter to me,
though. I just like them to be nice and somehow connected to music ;).
So I believe there's no option I'd've checked in this poll :( ...

Painting by numbers (= a nice Shadowland song BTW)
No, Snow Dog has spoken the truth. Variety is the blandness of... what was the saying again...

painted of course.. the art that is the music should be complemented by the art that is painting on the cover.

Painted and descriptive of the album, that's why I like Kim Poor's covers so much. Also Paul Whitehead, but a little bit less because I find his style too rough.
Kim Poor on the other hand is very oneiric, wonderful style and very delicate.
Kim Poor
The Hermit
Voyage of the Acolyte
Roger Dean's covers capture the essence of the album, so it's also descriptive but in a different way....I couldn't care less in this case, because each and every cover by him is incredibly beautiful, I love my Roger Dean's engravings.
A photograph can be great and artistic, but an original painting with great music is double piece of art.

I like covers that incorperate both painting and photography, like Clutching At Straws.

For prog painted, although some of the best covers are photos...does Sgt Peppers ring any bells?

Me too, I mean not only that I like the Lush Attic cover, but also that I also like the first Shadowland album very much . I think I have an older version of that album: without a Nicholls cover.

I love album covers that are painted. Actually i love them so much that I have the walls in my bedroom covered entirely with album covers, and the occasional poster.
