Any TRIP fan here?
It's a very good band, similar to ELP. My favourite album is "Atlantide", but "Caronte" and "Time Of Change" are also fantastic.

Nuova Era is missing ,altough i voted for Banco even if i cant never choose the best of Italian scene,because there is 4 bands(Banco,PFM,Museo,Lorme)that are one of my favorites of all prog .

Only got Banco 's Darwin and Le orme's Felona e Sorona. I like Le Orme's one slightly better. just starting with Italian Prog. Like it very much. Wanna hear more. Any suggestions ?

I don't think THE TRIP is similar to ELP, but not bad at all.
Interesting enough, Ritchie Blackmore was in the first THE TRIP line-up (before band's debut album).

But I have some notes.

- Why until "Florian"? IMO it is very good acoustic album, which, as well as its succcessor, "Piccola rapsodia dell'ape", deserves to be listened.

- Surely not a band for everyone. Only for those who like avant-garde stuff.
ALAN SORRENTI - ARIA (1972)
- IMO it's not a good choice for start. Good songwriter, but I think many (like me) will find his voice too annoying.
DALTON - RIFLESSIONI: IDEA D' INFINITO (1973)
- Totally agree!!! Transferred from vinyl (master tapes lost?), only 28 minutes long, but what a wonderful album! Great songwriting, flute and keyboard work. Why this band is not still included in PA?

In 1972 The Trip became a trio (Vescovi, Andersen and Furio Chirico) and released "Atlantide", a concept album based on the "lost continent". In this album their sound is influenced by ELP especially for keyboard playing.

"Florian" is included in my list, while "Piccola Rapsodia Dell'Ape" (even if a good album) isn't really progressive.
AREA is one of the best Italian bands from the seventies; although the music is not symphonic prog like PFM, BANCO or LE ORME, they were oriented towards free jazz, being influenced by SOFT MACHINE, NUCLEUS and even GENTLE GIANT.
Alan Sorrenti's "Aria" is one of the best example of mediterranean prog, original and suggestive, especially on the inedit use of his voice, influenced by Tim Buckley. The suite "Aria", with guest musicians Jean-Luc Ponty on violin, is one of the best moments of the Italian prog.

Although I don't understand Italian the songs don't sound the same if they are in English. I don.t even know what the names of the groups Banco and le Orme mean. And I would like to know where the songs are about.
