we suggest it's not compulsory to listen to an album x times before having "permission" to review it.the review's fit in my opinion.

GARYBALDI / GLEEMEN * "Nuda"

4 stars   REALLY: 4,49 (VERY GOOD BUY!!! Excellent addition in your discography)

Hendrix played Prog? to hear Nico Di Palo (New Trolls) and above Bambi Fossati... Certain! And "Nuda" it would deserve alone for this. and yet "Maya Desnuda" (that is dedicated to Goya or, like in the disc it is understood, to Valentina of Guido Crepax represented in the sexy cover?), "26 Febbraio1700", "L'ultima Graziosa" and the suite "Moretto Da Brescia" shine of actual light. Hendrix played Prog... (and I have not doubtful). But it sang better.

I generally read all reviews by NELNOMEDELPROG and generally do not understand them (but I cannot complain since English isn't my first language too). But what makes me crazy is the two decimal system of ratings he uses. Why 4,49? Is there an Excel table or a matrix to do it that we aren't aware about?

The meaning of this review probably would be explained by the fact that GARYBALDI 's guitarist Bambi Fossati in Italy is considered as "the Italian Hendrix" as well as Nico Di Palo, but i can't understand his decimal system of ratings.

PROG REVIEWER

2 stars  —  Their second one actually starts even worse than their debut album with a folk pop tune featuring quite ridiculous sounding vocals (not by the lyrics, I don't speak Hungarian, but just by the voice). Second one is a more or less cheesy and lovely ballad and next one a quite up-tempo one with good rocking guitar riffing, but nothing special. On track 5 they feature again nice flute playing combined with percussion and Hammond sound as well a great drum solo. So far the longest and best piece by them and in some way an ignition point for the album to become much better. At least for the next two songs which are very good psychedelic rock ones. Then there is a funny boogie woogie, a slower tune and a rock'n'roll one which are ok but nothing special. So finally three good tracks on here which does still not justify IMO to call it a very good album or even an essential one. With one eye (or ear) closed I could rate it with 3 stars.

What ? ????

In the PROGARCHIVES REVIEWS GUIDELINES in the point 6 says: " We suggest you listen to an album several times before writing a review. It can take a number of listens to Prog albums in particular to begin to appreciate the music."

hdfisch = Ban for prog reviewerer´s

This may not be Dieter's all time greatest review, but it certainly doesn't violate the guidelines as you say ... and that ban from prog reviewer call is a bit much, don't you think?
"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Thanks Andrew, grazie! It helped a lot to make things have sense. Now I think that 4,490 is probably unfair; maybe 4,492 should be a better rating.

I guess it's because that if he was to give it 4.5 stars, then he figured he'd have to round it up to 5 stars But yeah, pretty strange anyway.

ORME, LE "Elementi"
Review (Permanent link) by Braindamage

5 stars   Album released in 2001 "Elementi". The sound is symphonic rock optimistically made. It is a work with a good sense to draw out a warm, classical melody and performance. Moreover, it keeps brave, a positive theme appears repeatedly, and it makes it to the total album. Great masterpiece to revive meaning of rock symphony as keyboard trio whom ELP showed by "Canario" and "Fanfare For The Common Man", and to make it recognize again.

5 stars   Album released in 1996 "Il Fiume". The sound is warmth and elegant, keyboard symphonic rock. Of course graceful vocal is alive and well. The sound is exactly LE ORME. It is a glory period. The story is firmly spelt, and a new vision is presented. A steady performance is an ideal of the old-timer rock band. Eminent work. Progressive rock of Italy had not been ruined. LE ORME is in Italy. Great board.

Review (Permanent link) by Braindamage

4 stars   Album released in 1977 "Storia O Leggenda". LE ORME changed into pop sound. However, they returned to progressive music again by this work. However, the age is the latter half of 1970's. A little mellow and music at the vocal center are reluctant. It is soft, symphonic rock. It is wonderful to stand out of the melody. It is a delicate keyboard rock album that sprinkles a lot of impressive melodies.

ORME, LE "Contrappunti "
Review (Permanent link) by Braindamage
Posted 6:36:55 AM EST, 2/9/2006

5 stars   Album released in 1974 "Contrappunti". The contemporary music that the keyboard and the rhythm section cooperate intimately has been enhanced. This work is classic nearer than progressive rock far. It is attractive vocal to enrich the tone of the album that tends to become formal. It is musical advanced work though it is not for general.

<DIV align=justify>   The first top tier Genesis album. I apologize to all who have a soft spot for 'Trepass', I'm one of them, but this is where they matured some and took off. You can understand the origins with Trepass, but this exceeds any previous effort. Hacket and Collins are now rocking the band and the classic era line-up is in full swing. Sadly, only for four utterly amazing albums. How about those vocals on 'Seven Stones'? A beautiful story also. In fact this album may be the most fantastical of Genesis album. What with - well all the songs. The story lines are pretty out their, but they also breed fanaticism from those who like it. Like myself. Not to mention that 'Fountain of Salmacis' rocks in a way that no other prog songs do. Essential.

<DIV align=justify>   A masterpiece of rock, although I cannot say that for it's prog elements. I think the plethora of forum topics discussing how prog this album really is has gotten to me. I think the songs are great. I particularly love 'Us and Them' but I cannot in good conscience consider this a staple of prog rock. Lots of it is straightforward melody lines that are beautiful, well layered with other intruments, and well produced, but none the less they fall into pretty regular confines. I think the immense accessibility of the album generates some of my feelings. I know a handful of their fans - ney, a majority - who would never consider the music prog. They'd think we prog-heads are trying to assume some relevance where very little exists. Again, this isn't to say I don't love Pink Floyd, but it's for fans only (albeit they have more than all other prog acts put together). </SPAN></TD></TR>

<DIV align=justify>   I concede it's importance to prog by defering to more technical experts. On that rating I'd probably rate it a lot higher. Otherwise I'm less impressed. First track is pretty insipid. And that certainly isn't prog, it's blues. That could've ended up on a slightly adventurous Sabbath album.Next two tracks I enjoy alright. Neither are superb. You do start to get that proggy feel when you listen to those. The sound was later improved and perfected by other bands. Moonchild begins well, but man the next nine minutes seems to be isochronal with all the other material. We finally get to a rocking finish with 'In the Court...'. I'll hand that song. Broken off into segments all prog-style. I dig that. </SPAN></TD></TR>

<DIV align=justify>   An awesome album. It's one track, so you run out of things to say when talking about them. I think it was a little too ambitious. Not that I can't get through it and love it all the time, but I think it could have been one side. The whole b-side isn't that great in comparison except for the celestial strings part - that was utter genious. It makes listening to the whole b-side that much more worth it. Truly great.Otherwise I can't even think of the sections that much. I'm sure they exist, but I've listened to the album a whole lot and still cannot do it without investigation. Hooray for a Scots' contribution to prog, though. </SPAN></TD></TR>

<DIV align=justify>   With songs like 'the Lamia', 'In the Cage', 'Carpet Crawlers', 'Chamber of 32 Doors', and 'Anyway' this album begs to be listened to. The music on this album is incredible. I'd probably select it for my desert island pick. What an incredible variety of music that sounds like so little other music. This is the double albums to beat them all. Don't need the Wall, Physical, White, or any of the other sub-par double albums. This here's the one. And if you think the second record lacks, you've just not listened to it enough. I'm persoanlly partial to the first lp's B-side, but come on: Anyway? Light Dies Down? In the Rapids? Superb. Clearly essential. </SPAN></TD></TR>

<DIV align=justify>   I think 'Supper's Ready' says it all. This is a prog masterpiece because of that song by itself. The ol' going through song by song is a rather flawed method of determining an album's quality. Now, first of, I like all the songs on this album. But getting back to the point. Why is Foxtrot so much better than an album like 'Red', 'A Trick of the Tail' or 'Moon Madness'? I'd probably agree they're more consistent. But I'd trade any of the later three songs for 'Supper's Ready' by itself. No one can even pretend their prog collection is decent, let alone complete is it doesn't contain 'Supper's Ready'. Epic. </SPAN></TD></TR></T></TABLE>

<DIV align=justify>You know I'm a Genesis fan, but when there's a chance of a guy that can be trying to manipulate with the ratings, it's better to check him.

That's not fair. I'm Pink Floyd fan, but i'm also Genesis fan. I love their Nursery cryme, Foxtrot and Selling england. But it's not fair to vote like that. I would never give Genesis (these albums I mentioned) a three star review. Now way. I suggest to delete these reviews. They are inappropriate.

They're not only inappropriate, but un-objective (sic?) as well.  By the way...if we're deleting the text for a review that clearly is inappropriate, then why keep the rating?  If the review makes no sense, then neither does keeping the rating.  Just a thought.

The Asia - Mockba 1 star reviews look more like ads to me - and they're massively over rating the album to boot!

5 stars   Death owe Kreator much towards their overall sound? I think not, have you been hitting the pipe a little hard lately?

Er... No.

I've been a avid Kreator fan and Death fan for years and hardly any similarities between these bands exist except for some thrash runs, but that is earlier Death.

Aha! - that proves everything then!

Man I'm sure Mille Petrozza would like to say something about your comments, after all Mille respected Chuck since he was a innovative force in metal.

He can say what he likes - just as I can.

You think this is a collection of riffs that lack coherency?

That's what I said, isn't it?

You think this album is monotonous?

No, it IS monotonous...

This album is anything but incoherent and monotonous.

Says you...

You are free to voice your opinions as you like,

YES, I AM - REMEMBER THAT!!!

but I find you're review lacking of actual basis in fact (Kreator references).

No - in actual FACT the opposite is true, and the Kreator references are totally pertinent.

And Kreator nowadays has gone Melodeth with some occasional thrash runs, you are pretty oblivious and ignorant.

What is "Melodeth"?

Pardon my obliviousness and ignorance.

Chuck's vocals a diluted version of Mille? No way,

Way, dude!!!

I think you're oblivious to Chuck's vocal progression from albums.

Maybe, but I'm aware of the changes and what they sound like to me.

"Painkiller" is anything but... (Yay! I got that one in again!) - a raucous piece that begins far more in Kreator mode than anything thus far - it could have been lifted from "Extreme Agression" - maybe it's the title track... I need to go back and listen to it. What a great album that is... er... back to the album in hand...

- Really now? I don't think you've heard of a band....oh yeah JUDAS PRIEST.

Yes, it's a BAD cover...

 Begins in Kreator mode? Haha!!!

Yes. Haha!!!

Kreator was no where near Death's sound in the 90's in the 2000's they began expirementing with more melodic sounds, but saying Death owe their sound to Kreator is like saying Korn owe their sound to Carcass, its just asinine.

No, "replying" to my review in your review is asinine, and making such stupid comments based purely on your opinion and presenting them as if they're some sort of fact is just pure ignorance.

Death took a totally opposite path from Kreator's evolution, and Kreator's evolution is no where near the extent that Death took. Kreator started expirementing with melodic sounds in the late 90's and early 00's. While Death on the other hand had a melodic, dissonant sound in the early 90's with the album Human. And the album ITP capitalized upon that, and Symbolic so forth. There is not a Death album that sounds the same, that is due in part to the changing line ups.

So "melodic sounds" and "melodic dissonant sounds" (based on a complete misunderstanding of harmony rules) are polar opposites, are they?

And just like to note, Death sound no where near Kreator,

IN YOUR OPINION, MAN!

if anything later Kreator have some similarities to later era Death, when Kreator started expirementing with these sounds Death was already out of the Death metal game. And I'd like to add, I don't hear Chromatic solos and pentatonics that have a over abundance in Kreator's albums, but almost every thrash band follows those type of solos. But I hardly hear any chromatic solos in Death, the solos are based around Harmonic Minor Lead tone and various exotic scales.

Oooh!!! Harmonic minor - that IS exotic...

If you think Death owe their sound to Kreator you need to get your head checked.

And if you don't, then you need to get your ears checked.

Now that have had my 2 cents on this guys asinine, stupid and biased review on later Death, I'll continue with my review.

Your 2 cents are about to be taken away again, you very stupid, biased and asinine guy.

...and I see that some ignoramus has used the reviews as an alternative to the forum...

Why doesn't he come here and make his thoughts known...

I notice that the rest of the review says nothing but "Great" and makes pretentious comments about structure without understanding what structure is, and claims that the drum solo is in 24/8

DELETE IT!!!!
