DREAM THEATER "Images And Words " Review (Permanent link) by IO Posted 6:08:08 AM EST, 2/5/2006
![DREAM THEATER Images And Words progressive rock album and reviews](https://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/378/cover_2823161462005.jpg)
Progressive Metal (Studio Album, 1992) Avg: 4.25/5 from 251 ratings It's true. Dream Theater is incredible bad. Why are they called progressive? Their compositions are not complex! They're very basic! So what makes it progressive? Is it the combination of powerchords with a keyboard player. Well, the worst of all is the singer. I HATE that American progmetal style of singing. The expression is so unreal. It's so forced. The lyrics are childish and there is no real emotion. Melodic and harmonic, there is no depth. Alright, no depth, but does it sound good? Maybe a bit, but the singer makes a hell of it. And the keyboard has a plastic sound. The worst part of this album? The ballads. You may like it, if you're gay.

Well, for those who arrive on this page and decide to read this review, I only have to say: Do you like the Floydian sound (PINK FLOYD)? LED ZEPPELIN? Marco Antonio managed to combine the two into just one, adding Brazilian magic. Not to be missed…

I agree it's not much of a review, but as it's the only one for the album, and as it at least gives some indication -- albeit very little -- of the type of music, I'd say leave it there. At least for the time being.

Symphonic Prog (Boxset / Compilation, 2005) Avg: 3.00/5 from 4 ratings KING CRIMSON "The 21st Century Guide To King Crimson Volume Two: 1981-2003 (4CD Box Set)"Review (Permanent link) by Ataraxia Posted 8:20:19 PM EST, 2/5/2006
![1 stars](https://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_images/1stars.gif) There is one serious problem with this CD set: It is not by King Crimson. Robert Fripp's pretensions to the contrary, King Crimson has not existed since 1974. If, as Fripp claims, there is a special sort of spirit, a kind of "musical watermark" that makes a band "King Crimson", then it seems to me that taking a band called "Discipline" in 1981 and changing its name to "King Crimson", quite likely because of record company pressure, does not a "King Crimson" make. What happened, I wonder, what mystical revelation suddenly enlightened Fripp that "Discipline" was actually King Crimson? One would think that that should have been obvious from the beginning. Yet, that band was not called King Crimson. Fripp got it right the first time: It never should have been so called. II would add that, for anyone who has truly experienced, felt, and understood the intensity of the real and only King Crimson, that of 1969-1974, it is almost axiomatic that no band that contains Adrian Belew could possibly be King Crimson.

Possibly a bit of a hacker at work. Just a quick look at "view source" on the submit a review page led me to a zero star gif held on the server. But that's as far as my limited knowledge takes me.

![1 stars](https://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_images/1stars.gif) REALLY: 1,02 (NOT BUY!!!) It know because I put down this album? Why it is not Tull not even 5%! Resonable music, but too cheerful. Good the refrain, thing that I appreciate. But unfortunately it is a too "artificial" disc. with "artificial" feelings and music. I ask excuse... But I see it so.
What does it mean? ![](smileys/smiley5.gif)
Or this one...which I still don't clearly understand...

![5 stars](https://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_images/5stars.gif) Work released in 1972 "Uomo Di Pezza". It is a romantic fine work to have gone forward as for a classical rock route. It announces as it doesn't hesitate in the influence of the baroque music. An important motif is Bach's chaconne. It is indeed passionate music. The jacket is artistic and wonderful, too.
