I will indeed, thanks for your help with the HD600 anyway, I will consider them in the future if a hefty wad of cash ever falls in my lap

Thanks to give your impressions. I don't know it, for sure there are less good than the HD600, but probably much more cheaper and not too big to wear, unlike the HD600. Of course, they provide much more bass and more everything than the nasty earbuds. It's probably sufficient for a poratble CD player. Enjoy!

Well, I made it out to a store in my area, an browsed around a bit. They didnt have much of a selection of high quality headphones, mostly just earbuds, and sports/jogging dealies... so I had to settle on a pair because, naturally, I HAVE to spend my money on something (just how I am). So I decided to just go with the Sennheiser 477s. Well I got em and they turned out to be a little more more muffled than I thought they would be. After listening to 'em for most of the day I have realized that they are quite good, though not as good as I was expecting, but then I've been listening to fairly old albums all day with not-so-brilliant recording, so I tried out a much more recend album and it sounds really clear. Since ive been using some sony eaybuds for quite a while I was surprised with how much more bass they have. Usually I keep the megabass or whatever its called turned on with my CD player, but now, keeping it off gives me as much bass as in the on position with earbuds... especially with that newer CD (You're a woman, I'm a machine, by DFA 1979 [yeah I know... it may not be the best band ever, but with a hendrix dvd for 25 bucks... so its not all bad.]) ... so... much.. bass... reminds me of an S.U.V. that passed by me while I was walking home and I could feel the bass from the vehicle from down the street (about 50 - 100 metres or so)...
well maybe the headphones arent that bass-y... but... well I like 'em, they aint bad for the price and its better than usin these tiny little earbuds... they fit over my hat and big hair too! wooohooo! Well... I just cant stop writing useless blather sometimes can I? |

Ah thankyou. I was thinking of just ordering a pair, though I think I will browse around the mall a bit to see what else is available... I was planning on getting the Genesis Archive '67-'75 box, which doesnt leave me too much for a pair of great headphones... so I may have to make a very difficult choice... nice headphones... or all the live songs I've been wanting to hear for so long...

Hello!
Of course. Get them through the Net. For example, here's on Amazon.com, there's an offer at 269.95$ (New): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/ B00004SY4H/all/ref=dp_olp_2/002-2862706-5856032?%5Fencoding= UTF8 |

Oliverstoned, would you mind telling me where you found the Sennheiser HD 600 headphones for that price? The only store in my area that carries them (to my knowledge) is charging 600 dollars!!! Nearly crapped myself...

Here is my current headphones
![]() Sennheiser HD 477 http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/05178 I had another pair of Sennheisers before these, can't remember the model number though, which I prefered. I've "got use to" the HD477's but not as good as the originals. Anyway anybody have a pair of these? Sennheiser HD-201 apprently they have won awards etc and a review can be found here http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/review.php?reviewId=1380 Thinking of buying them as they are only £17. or these http://www.behringer.com/HPS3000/index.cfm?lang=ENG |

Grado, all the way. My SR60's sound great, they have a solid 20-20
frequency response and cost me only $75!!! Really, they put you
surprisingly close to high-end sound- there's nothing anywhere near as
good for even three times the money.

I'm sing a pair of Sennheiser HD 212 Pro's.
I mainly use them for recording on my computer(Protools) and general music listening. I think I paid about $60. Pretty good for the price. Try to avoid H/phones that "boost" the bass frequencies, they tend to muddy the sound. |

You can't have both ease of use and quality!
Compressed numeric sound is the worst thing ever for sound quality! |

i will keep my old sennheiser for the 128 kbps mp3s, and use the 570 for better recordings. @ 128 kbps, it seems the mid frequencies are dramatically cut off. it has nothing to do with the "narrower" freqency response. you seem to mix frequency response and bandwidth. the compression method simply cuts off the mid frequencies, but the bandwidth (highest minus lowest frequency audible seem to remain the same, while the frequency response changes for the worse. the harmonic distortion rate is also dramatically increased, obviously, since sound information has been chopped. a) You are a fool for ripping mp3's at 128. (no offense, but nothing sounds more awful to me than low bitrate music ![]() b) It is good that headphones sound terrible playing 128 kbps mp3's because it means they have a wider frequency response. It sounds terrible because the speakers are trying to reproduce frequencies that were cut out of the file when it was compressed. with a higher bitrate, they would probably sound heavenly. If headphones sound good with low bitrates, it simply means they have terribly narrow frequency response. c) you dont have to spend hundreds of dollars for decent sounding headphones. Take my Sony MDR-CD280's. ![]() They're comfy, portable, and they sound fabulous. I've never heard a bit of distortion out of them, even at extreme volumes. I got them for $15 at Best Buy, and as I was searching for the image, I found them on amazon.com for about the same price. Honestly, the only complaint I have is that the cord is too long and I have to coil it up in my pocket if I want to use them while walking. (Yes, I am one of those nerds who walks around campus with giant headphones on... ![]() |

i have just bought sennheiser HD 570: i'm a bit disappointed because they are really not able to drive 128 kbps mp3s. at 192 kbps, it becomes more acceptable. not that those headphones are bad; actually they are OUTSTANDING if you use a VERY Hi-Fi source, but my old Sennheiser are better for the 128 kbps mp3s. that's bad because most of my mp3s are 128 kbps. i still believe my old yellow sennheiser HD 424, made in the mid 80's, are the best ones for vynils if you consider their relatively low price. |
