Concerning Genesis - The Musical Box

I wouldn't go so far as to call Gabriel a practicing Christian.  I think he is more intrigued by the stories and their meanings than actually a believer, although I have a feeling he's changed his mind on it more than a few times.  This is why Genesis music tends to be religious.  He has a fascination with it, and other types of mythology, as does Tony Banks.  But he tends to question a lot in his music.

The Musical Box is about death, rape and rejection.  Cynthia not only rejects Henry, but he is also rejected from heaven, which explains why he thought all of the stories were lies.

THE MUSICAL BOX
While Henry Hamilton-Smythe minor (8) was playing croquet with Cynthia Jane De Blaise-William (9), sweet-smiling Cynthia raised her mallet high and gracefully removed Henry's head. Two weeks later, in Henry's nursery, she discovered his treasured musical box. Eagerly she opened it and as "Old King Cole" began to play a small spirit-figure appeared. Henry had returned - But not for long, for as he stood in the room his body began ageing rapidly, leaving a child's mind inside. A lifetime's desires surged through him. Unfortunately the attempt to persuade Cynthia Jane to fulfil his romantic desire led his nurse to the nursery to investigate the noise. Instinctively Nanny hurled the musical box at the bearded child, destroying both.

I'm not ceratin but the 'guaranteed eternal sanctuary man' may be the Devil, or the Anti-Christ. He fools us through 'Peace' (share his peace) According to the Bible the Anti-Christ establishes a counterfeit kingdom on Earth and 'through peace shall he destroy many' Thats an Athiests view on it!

As for the snake... no idea..

 well the girl killed the boy by accident so the nurse consoled her that he had gone to heaven. But he hadn't he was a ghost full of desire for her. So he is telling her that what nurse said was a lie about him going to heaven because he was lost in the half world that ghosts dwell in. Quite an emotional masterpiece.

 Genesis up to TLLDOB did emotion wonderfully.

I don't know, I always thought she murdered him on purpose to get his musical box.
