URIAH HEEP was a great hard-rock band in the seventies like DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH and RAINBOW who released many good albums such as "Salisbury", "Look At Yourself", "Demons And Wizards", "The Magician's Birthday".

Which is your favourite???

Salisbury is mine too, not just my favourite Uriah Heep album, but one of my Top 5  all-time albums ... and those four albums Andrew just mentioned are my four favourites from Heep

incidentally, in 1999, Mick Box cited Salisbury as his favourite, while Ken Hensley said that his was Demons And Wizards!
"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath I played Uriah Heep a lot when I was a young man ( long time ago ) Still listen to them, Very'eavy, very'umble and Look At Yourself I both like a lot. Voted for their first album though.

A class act.Sooo many modern prog metal bands could learn a lesson or two from them in terms of melody and drama.

I enjoy most of their albums, even the 80's pop metal oriented stuff. It grew on me with time I guess.

In the same league as Black Sabbath,Deep Purple,Blue Oyster Cult,Golden Earring,Rinbow,(early)Whitesnake,Queen,ect...

What's gonna come out of my mouth is gonna come out of my soul."Skip Prokop"

It's a toss up really. I voted for Demons and Wizards, but could have just as easily voted for Magician's Birthday or Look At Yourself.

I have voted for Look At Yourself (nice contribution from guest musicians Osibisa on percussion and Manfred Mann on his Moog synthesizer) but my favorite album is Live, it's still one of my most played records, despite Genesis, King Crimson, BJH, etc! I love the dynamics, the great live atmosphere, Ken on his Hammond organ, the fiery runs from Mick, the rock and roll medley, one of the best live albums ever recorded, it can compete with Made In Japan!

About what you think of their Live record. I think that record could have been so much better if they included some better tunes and excluded some. Songs like Sunrise, Sweet Lorraine and The Magician's Birthday should have been replaced by songs like Stealin', Dreammare, Real Turned On, Pilgrim and Seven Stars. This all is afcourse mine opinoin.Take nothing away that it still a very good live recording of a very good band !

Not much difference between the 4 your mentioned. Stealin' probably their best laid out hit. I was at a show back in the 70's when the bassist was electricuted and dead, wow! The show was stopped and new tickets were distributed for their show the next year. Quiet a wake up for the stoner crowd.

Would recommend Trapeze - Medusa over any Uriah Heep album, similar but no keys, lyrics along the lines of Ozzy's output on early albums.
