It's so weird nobody voted for Morningrise!!!
Most of Opeth fans I know like it the most, and it has GREAT songs !!! (including opeth's longest song - "black rose immortal" and their first balad "to bid you farewell" )

If this was a metal site, i'm sure there would be more votes for Morningrise. I was listening to Morningrise a couple days ago, and i have to admit it's an album that is very underrated by Opeth's progressive fans. I don't understand why any progressive fan of Opeth likes My Arms Your Hearse, i consider it to be their weakest album.
I'm quite suprised i'm the only one who's voted for Deliverence thus far. I thought it was a very progressive album with an excellent dark atmosphere. Deliverence may be quite underrated as well.

I agree about what you said on Morningrise, i didn't think of that before. but also, i disagree about MAYH, i think it's VERY progressive album (the cocept, the lyrics, the riffs and the songs structure are all progressive) and it has some of Opeth's bests like : Demon of the fall, When (love this track!) , the Amen corner and Epilogue. but after all it's just a matter of taste
besides, I think opeth has NO weak album
(sorry if my english is not so good)

I should rephrase weakest to least impressive. I still love My Arms Your Hearse, but i find it to be their least progressive album. The concept is interesting, and the structure is ok, but some of the songwriting is lacking for them. I think it was somewhat of a dissapointment after hearing how great Morningrise was. Again, I'd agree that songs like When, The Amen Corner, Creedence, and the timeless Demon of the Fall are great songs, but if you stack them up against songs like Bleak, The Leper Affnity, White Cluster, A Fair Judgment, and By the Pain I See In Others, these songs have a tough time holding their own.

My Arms, Your Hearse gets my vote. April Ethereal and Karma are my Opeth number 1 favorites, along with with Black Rose Immortal, Leper Affinity, Blackwater Park, Ghost of Perdition and Baying of the Hounds.

what the hell are you people thinking voting for Ghost Reveries it's just a rushed sloppy album pushed out into the media for some cash. I voted for Deleverance for a reason. It's gorgeous and masterfully made.

I had to go with Blackwater Park. My first introduction to Opeth was The Drapery Falls, and that's still their best track to me.

Same here too. The Drapery Falls is awesome. So BWP got my vote, the second best album is Still Life.

How can you call Ghost Reveries rushed?
There was 2 years between Damnation and GR.
And how you can call the album "sloppy" is beyond me.

If this was a poll for best album by Opeth, no contest - Ghost Reveries.
While it's the favourite album to vote I go with Still Life - my first Opeth album and the perfect connection between the older and the newer Opeth. A masterpiece indeed! "Godhead's Lament" is my favourite song on it - amazing piece! That album is only slightly beaten by "Blackwater Park" and even "Ghost Reveries".
I think the most underrated Opeth album is "Morningrise", their most progressive one if you ask me. The album has one great dreamy atmosphere, and their longest song with over 20 minutes is also on it. It has not the perfect songwriting yet but it's near on flawless and reminds as a unique album in their catalogue, seems also very overlooked by many.

I would have said the same thing, but
switched the albums around. I've been an Opeth fan since before I even
knew what prog was and I have to say, I disagree completely.
As for my favourite, it's tough to choose, but Still Life and Ghost Reveries are currently at the top.

Still Life is good, and so are Blackwater Park and Deliverance, but Ghost Reveries gets my vote. Simply outstanding, and one of the best albums in my collection.

I only own 2 albums by them (blackwater park and damnation) and from
those 2 i pick blackwater park over damnation. as the same story of
everyone, i too didn't like the growling in music until i got
blackwater park .
All this raving about ghost reveries is making more and more anxious to buy the album
