Best Star Trek Film

I've been a Trekker since the show first aired in 1966. It was just me and another guy in my 4th grade class that were into it while the other guys were into Lost In Space, which believe it or not had higher ratings than ST. Well after 10 years since it's cancellation of negotiations and false starts, it came back on the big screen. Looks like now it's finally played it's course. Even I'm a little tired of it now. But it did come up some with great episodes along with some pretty bad ones as well.

My vote goes to Wrath Of Khan with Undiscovered Country 2nd and First Contact 3rd. Hey, you got to give The Next Generation some pat on the back!

Got em all at home, and actually have the same top 3 as mark, but different order ... Undiscovered Country is top for me, Wrath Of Khan second and First Contact third ...

and I must say that the first one (remember V'ger?) is one of the worst movies I've ever sat through ...

As I've said a couple of times, I'm a real ST nut too, watched every epicode of DS9, Voyager and (even though it sometimes hurt) Enterprise, all but two or three of TNG, but only half of the original series ....

DS9 is my favourite series, with TNG second and the others quite a way off ...

Definately The Wrath of Kahn, nothing like seeing Ricardo Montalban with a fake chest

Star Trek 4 for me a terrific balance of sci-fi and humour.

I like the theme of the first movie, the story of V'ger, etc, etc but the movie itself has dull moments. So my vote goes to IV: The Voyage Home - the scene at the hospital with the Doc 'Bones' complaining about present invasive medicine is funny and also sad (I always say that Medicine will leave the Middle Age the day an invasive surgery shall be the last option not the first).

I definately vote for the Undiscovered Country.  The final movie with the original cast, and they made it important.  The storyline is among the most epic in the Star Trek movies, and Christopher Plummer was excellent as General Chang.  It's kind of odd to see the father from The Sound of the Music playing a Klingon warrior.

The runner-up would definately be The Wrath of Khan, William Shatner definately put in a great performance in this one. 

The Search For Spock was interesting.  It's a much different mood from all the other films.  Shatner definately put in his best performance here.  The special effects looked cheesier than the other ones, but I don't really know why. 

As much as I loved first contact, it over did the borg a bit too much. nd why the borg not just send 2 Borg cubes? Well, whatever. Still a great movie. I have to go with the Wrath of Kahn, beautiful movie, and storyline. (However, the orignal series episode of kahn SUCKED!)

so many good ones to choose from, but "The Voyage Home" for me.

    The first one was a bit weak in the plot department, but was a special effects extravaganza. These guys were probably pumped about finally having a budget to make it look good, they forgot about the script. "Kahn" is about the only one that really stands on its own. You don't have to be a Trek fan to like this one. The only real problem is Kirstie Alley as a Vulcan. They seem to have a very hard time casting female Vulcans (Kim Cattral?). "Search for Spock" was a letdown. "IV" was a light, and loveable save the whales movie. "IV" was really bad. It was way past time for them to hang it up. "Undiscovered Country" was surprisingly better than the last one, but still not that good. (Christopher Plummer quoting Shakespeare. Where did they get that idea? Oh, yeah, from Khan! When he quotes "Moby Dick!") I thought "Generations" was enjoyable, and allowed them to make the transition. "First Contact" was a lot better (The Borg usually make for good trek). "Insuurection" was nothing more than an episode that was never shot. "Nemesis" just confused me. I'm not really sure where that idea came from (Remus? A Picard clone? Kill Data?)
