I did this mainly for BaldFriede. She came up with pretty good obscure ones. I'm not sure which one I would pick out of this bunch.

Yeah, that's a good one. 2112 huh? Never thought of it that way, but I can see what you mean.

Unfortunately I've only seen half of the list, but my vote goes to the 1953 classic, "It Came From Outer Space".

There's also an obscure movie of the 50s named "The Thing From Outer Space", which was refilmed in the 80s and starred by Kurt Russell, with the title shortened simply for "The Thing".

I voted for The Arrival. It's not the best sci-fi movie, but for me, it's one of those movies whose atmosphere and scenery influence my thoughts, ideas, and creativity.

Hard pressed. Should I vote for "Silent Running"? There rarely was a more melancholic and yet strangely hopeful ending to a movie. Or "Phase IV", which has some very unlikely main protagonists (ants, and not gigantic ones, just normal-sized ants) and a very "open" ending (which almost cries for a sequel, though I have no idea what that sequel should be like)? I will finally go with "Welt am Draht", because this movie (which was made for TV) is totally obscure, although it was shot by famous German director Rainer Werner Faßbinder, and, due to some legal fight about the rights, can't be shown at all at the moment, which is a real pity, because it is a great work of art.
