Another simple poll ... Edit: Let me clarify what I mean by "enjoy": Listen to the music without always being reminded of the format. When listening to mp3s you occasionally hear the compression for complex waveforms like cymbals, when listening to Vinyls you occasionally hear scratches and dust/static ... but depending on your personal preference you can still enjoy the music. Edit 2: I'm really sorry that I forgot the option "No". Please choose "Other" if you think that there is absolutely no way to enjoy an mp3-File like you would a proper CD/Vinyl. Yes, even at low bitrates (<128kbps) 0 [0.00%] Yes, but not for bitrates lower than 128kbps 1 [25.00%] Yes, but not for bitrates lower than 192kbps 1 [25.00%] Yes, but only for the highest bitrate (320kbps) 0 [0.00%] Yes, on a mobile player - but not on a HiFi system 0 [0.00%] NOT AT ALL |

I prefer CD's, but I also enjoy listening to MP3 (128kbps), either on
my portable or on burnt CD's. Usually I don;t put the volume too high,
so the difference in quality is minimal. At least to my 48 years old
ears.

I listen to MP3s at 128kbps and I do enjoy the music. I can't tell if I would still enjoy frequencies less than 128kbps as I've never tried it. You never know I might even enjoy listening to music at 1kbps or even less than that. |

well, you can go to amazon.com and listen to their samples - I think they're about 16kbps. Or if you have Winamp you can go to www.shoutcast.com and browse their internet radio stations - some of them send in really low bitrates. |

Other was my choice. I enjoy (which I am taking as the key word here) music wherever I am. I prefer listening to music on my Sennheiser 660 cans (posseur) but get much enjoyment listening to my HDD walkman (ATRAC3plus 64 format) on the move, where else can you take 350 ish albums with you. I am currently listening to my computer playing the ATRAC version and it is fine.
My option choice - a place for everything and everything in its place |

I don't enjoy listening to MP3 as much as CD. I also don't enjoy listening to FLAC as much as CD. I don't enjoy listening to MP3 burnt CDs as much as CD, or even perfect copies.
I can't seperate the effects on enjoyment brought about by the quality from the effects brought about by the knowlege it's not an original, so there's no way I could give a meaningful vote. |

Anything lower the 128 Kbps I can`t enjoy (they sound flat to me) but 128 kbps and higher is CD quality (according to musicmatch) and the difference (if there is any) will only be detected in high quality systems. I enjoy MP3`s very much and I consider them to be a very faithful reproduction of the original recorded source. Compared to the old methods of taping vinyl records we have come a long way

Only at 128kbps or higher. Of course CD is better, and vinyl is A LOT better than any mp3 file... |
