I've not listened to some of them yet...and I've not included some other bands which you may prefer Correct me,if I wrong
Only bands,which have released their CDs from 90 till 2000,included here.Please,do not scream "where the hell is IQ? "etc ,they're in another poll

Citizen Cain is by far the best and more talented!!! I'm not sure if i would call then neo though, they are way to complex for that genres standards. I guess they are a truly symphonic prog band.

Hmmm... The only Neo-prog I know are Spock's Beard, Flower Kings, and Porcupine Tree.

 

Looks like I've been missing out on quite a few bands

Maybe this isn't the place to ask, but where should one start if they want to Neo-Prog experience?

I`d go back , all the way back to "Fish" Marillion for that type of experiance

Welll, the yfit the neo label since their music is pretty much inspired by classic Genesis (or classic Camel or early 80s Yes or Alan Parsons Project). That's the standardized label for bands influenced by the aforemntioned bands... not those influenced by KC, Univers Zero or Return to Forever, well...

Citizen Cain is, in my mind, a perfetly neo band, and what a band. Their first two albums hadenough complexity to show that they could play some great stuff way beyond their obvious influences; their last two showed that they could create original neo-prog, a new neo so to speak...

OOOPPPS....Sorry I just don't like them - that's why you may notice SHADOWLAND (my fav from Nolan's "family" ) and no ARENA
