Definitely Tarkus. Pictures at an Exhibition is a great piece of music, but I don't like the ELP version.

for a lot of reasons Tarkus..my rotweiller's name was Tarkus..it was the first ELP album I listened to..the suite is one of my prog favorites..etc
Pictures is awesome but it could had been better IMO..
maybe arranged, produced and recorded at a studio..I dunno
..anyway it gave a great idea of how good ELP sounded LIVE

Pictures at an Exhibition is much better as

A whole but the song Tarkus is just amazing,

Too bad the rest of the album isn’t as great.

Ditto.  Tarkus is one of my favourite songs at the moment.  In fact, I haven't heard Pictures .

Pictures was bold, daring , audacious but not perfect. but it is a very even affair

I love Tarkus - the track but think that the other side of the vinyl is full of throw away tracks and fillers.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I like both, but I choose Tarkus. It's more interesting and original, IMO. Besides, I love the part of "Battlefield" and the live version on "WBMFTTSTNE..."
