probably '..nerds' is the right answer but I've gone for the safe option of 'just a bunch of people.....'

Just a bunch of people who prefer certain types of music.
Any age group, although the older set are more protective because of all the years of progressive rock bashing by the so-called music critics following their shallow trendy waves through the years.

All:
Some of your banter reminds me of something Klaatu once answered during an interview after the release of their second album, "Hope." The interviewer asked, "Some people say that "Hope" is a masterpiece, while others say it's out of sync with the time we live in. What would you say?"
Their answer?
"Then we must assume it is a masterpiece out of sync with the time we live in!"
Peace.

A brilliant quote, and utterly true.

I can't believe no one voted for 'dreamers and outcasts...'. Come one, one can't be more of a social outcast with tastes like mine:
- Prog rock: This is absolutly THE MOST despised and unfashionable music today. Hell, even the Easter processional marches from Seville are more widely accepted.
- Pre-Raphalites: Please, can someone tell me a most unfashinable pictorial school nowadays?
- Fantasy: This is one of a hell o a cynical era. Fantasy worshippers must take shelter in the company of nerds... because we are usually nerds.
At least, I usually like mainstream movies above all... what makes me a social outcast in my work, a tv channel full of people with a taste for terrible irani films about people doing nothing...

I think county music is more despised than prog. After all, every magazine etc. loves Pink Floyd.
