For the sake of conveienence, I have decided to rip all my prog albums onto my computer to add onto my superannuated Dell Jukebox.  As we speak, Atom Hear Mother is ripping onto my PC.  Usually, regarding prog, I strongly favor using my portable CD player to listen to prog albums, for best clarity with Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones, but when I'm travelling it seems cumbersome to drag 27 Zappa albums around.

I have roughly 200 albums to go.

Anyway Jay
Did you get your Mp3 player?
I couldn't spot it in the techie discussions in the last 6 pages.
I spend a good hour each way commuting to work on the bus and train and really enjoy my 20Gb Sony HD5. I converted my CDs into Sony's ATRAC3plus 64kbps and it does me fine. I don't want the music blasting my eardrums but just to have it there. (I need to listen to station announcements). It is half full with 350 ish albums and plays reasonably well through my portabale hi-fi. The Sony is great cos it fits in my shirt breast pocket, I can adjust the controls though the pouch and - most importantly - the battery lasts about 25-30 hours on the one three hour charge. You can also get additional batteries which you can take with you should you be going on a long journey.

Some people say that the software is crap but I have had few problems with it. I am listening to Leftfield at the moment on my PC and it is perfectly acceptable for a PC system.

A place for everything I always say. And Yes, I also have a pair of HD600s to listen to CDs on my main system. Now that is listening.

A nice, light, mp3 player with detachable batteries (Takes one AAA, mine got around 10-14 hours of battery life) would be an iRiver T30. (1 gigabyte)

It is about the size of a AA Battery and is EXTREMELY lightweight.

It works with Windows Media Player, and mine has not malfunctioned at all in my 6 month's of owning one.

You could probably fit 10-15 albums for 1 GB.

It is a little expensive at $150, but it is a great, small mp3 player.
