Topic: Favorite soft/chill DT song Posted: January 15 2006 at 17:07 |
Being a huge Dream Theater fan here, I love all of their songs - but i seem to enjoy their heavier, hard rock songs better than their softer, chiller songs. Though, I have been able to appreciate all of their stuff and I love it all!
Anyway, which softer, chill DREAM THEATER song is your favorite?

I had to go with Space-dye vest. The soft melancholy piano is really calming, and it's a long song so you have more time to relax. The lyrics are also very good as well. To live forever is also one of my favorites, I especially like now the calm guitars constrast with the powerful vocals. The spirit carries on is one of my favorites, but I find it may pump you up as much as calm you.

I think 'Six degrees ...' is their best album, so my vote goes w/ 'Disappear'.

I voted for Wait for Sleep. Despite its shortness it touches me most.

Well, I sure don't.
Anyways, while there are a lot of good ones, I absolutely love the piano in "Disappear." Great song, and I'll choose it.

Space-dye Vest of course!!!
Ahhh maestro Moore...
And keep in mind that this is one of those few song where LaBrie doesn't overdo it with the cheese... His voice is dark, apathetic and perfectly fits into the mood....

I voted for Lifting Shadows Off a Dream because no one has yet. I really love all of these songs. (yeah, I love DT songs, how'd you know) This is how I would rank them.
Lifing Shadows Off a Dream Disappear Space-Dye Vest Goodnight Kiss Hollow Years Vacant Another Day Wait For Sleep The Answer Lies Within The Silent Man (shouldn't really count) Anna Lee Through My Words I Walk Beside You Take Away My Pain Through Her Eyes To Live Forever Eve Speak to Me Surrounded (total 80's cheese)

Yeah, every DT song is great. I would rank 'Space-Dyed Vest' as my
favorite, but when I bought '5 Years in a livetime' on DVD I heard
'Speak to me'.
It's not on a record, but it's still worth of one of their finest 'depressive' recordings.
